COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional lager is brewed in the classic European style using only hand-selected noble hops and specialty malts. A generous portion of Vienna malt is used to impart a robust, malty flavor and a smooth clean finish.Brewed in the Sam Adams tradition of quality.

Chocolatey brown. Nice grainy/hops aroma that betrays the malt taste. One of my favorites. Even and flat with a syrupy malt backbone and nice crisp hops lingering around the back. Definitely finishes smooth, true to its attempt. Even some complexity in the malt flavor, some chocolate graham cracker appeal (more graham cracker less chocolate). I was just happy that the carbonation wasnt overbearing in the bottle. could use some more body.

Great job on a hard style. Actually different from the O'fest! Aroma is all toasted malt, backed by subtle noble hops. Flavor is great balance of malt and hops, again, noble (tettnanger). Tail just says "more, more, more!" Body is slightly above medium.

Good looking beer with nice malty aroma. Biscuit and caramel notes dominate. Nice flavor, but a lingering metallic aftertaste hurts it a bit. With a cleaner finish, this is a great beer.

A pretty decent Vienna. I think the hops are not quite as sharp as they could be, but the flavor is quite good. A decent example of the style.

good, infact really good. i dont know what all these people are talking about it tasting the same. it tastes like i expect a 6 pack of sam adams anything to taste- good. it has some similiarities with the boston ale, but not many. a good beer, glad i was able to purchase this. very good pour with a big head

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2003 Nice frothy head that sat a few.Smells like another sam adams.Decent malty bready/doughy.Tastes like a really weak batch of boston ale.The color was nice(I thought)deep reddish amber(darker than I thought it would be.These guys need to branch out into making distiguished beers instead of a slight variation of the same beer every freakin' time(in a sense).I still love the Boston lager & ale......This beer is probly better than the 2.9 I gave it but I'm tired of different labels w/almost the same brew inside all of them.Sam adams,saranac...good crossover beer.

Im just not overtaken by this one. Its got a strong malty nose, and a decent flavor parallel with it, but it just doesnt make me want to drink too much of it.

This was OK. Looked and tasted alot like Sam's Light but a tad more body and flavor. Looked just the same too. I would have also liked a tad more carbonation as well though it was still better carbonated than the light.

I wasn't too impressed with the way this beer looked, but after a few tastes I forgot about all of that. A very fine brew.

One of my more favorite beers from Sam Adams. A nice brownish/copper color with a good caramel style aroma. Nice smooth taste. I'd like get more of this in the future!
