COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

Bottle at home in Salisbury, CT. Pours foggy gold with a frothy, white head. Lovely piney hop aroma with some tropical fruit notes. Light to medium sweet flavor, definitely wheaty, with some dough, grapefruit, pine and grass, some lemon and orange. Medium in body with average, smooth carbonation. Sweet, faintly sticky finish, some lingering grassy bitterness, pine, yeast, wheat, dough, grapefruit and lemon. An interesting beer and very nice overall.

Hazy light amber. Thin head. The apricot shows in the aroma with some stale hops. There’s a decent bitterness and just a little bit of pale malt. The apricot lends a little bit of brightness to the otherwise dull hops, and I think the spices contribute a little bit of (enjoyable) astringency in the finish. Some interesting elements even if the total package is probably 3rd out the 3 fruited IPAs I’ve lately.

Bottle thanks to John. Pours cloudy gold with white head. Nose and taste of banana, citrus, pine, spicy hops, yeast, clove and dried citrus. Medium body. Finishes dried citrus with touch of spice.

The beer is a bit hazy with some soapy white foam and a bit of sticky lacing. A really interesting aroma. The apricot note is there, as are the spices, can’t really pick out anything in particular, though. A nice citrus and floral hoppiness to it as well. The flavor is sweet up front, but a bitter pine note quickly comes through and gives it an IPA feel. Mild wheat flavor with some sweet bread in the background. Not as much hop flavor as I would have liked, but good overall.

Bottle from Nugget Market in Davis, CA. Pours hazy light orange gold with a creamy/bubbly white head. Aroma is quite fruity with something medicinal. Med body. Flavor is fruit (apricot or peach) with citrus and resin. It is quite hoppy, and the effect is quite bitter. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is floral hop and apricot. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop and citrus with a nice crisp finish. Easy to drink a very impressive IPA from Sam Adams.

Bottle. Cloudy orange with some floaties and a medium white head. Aroma of not-so-fresh citric and piney hops, some fruitiness and yeasty notes. Flavor has yeast, some fruitiness, and a nice bitter hoppy finish, kinda piney, with some spicy notes. Medium-bodied. Quite enjoyable.

Quality Control Bottle. Poured hazy pale color with a large frothy white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus hop and fruit aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate smooth bittersweet flavor with a moderate bitter acidic finish of medium duration. This a complex brew.
