COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

Grabbed this in the Winter Variety Pack, so tried it for the 2nd and 3rd time. Updating it just a tad now. Appearance is a lighter brown. They call this "Lager" but listing it as a bock here. Tastes sort of like a Dunkel...I'm all confused!! Spicy and malty though, not too much hops but just enough to offset a bit. I like this better than the White Ale, which I wasn't sure of. Could be one of their better brews. This reminded me of a lighter version of Beck's Dark...or something in between regular Beck's and Beck's Dark....Beck's Medium

I have a sweet tooth for barley wine, this is for me better than any lager, but a poor barley wine.

Well if this is the tripe that they have for winter, sign me up with our ursine kin, the bears: I'm gonna hibernate this season away, awake in the spring and drown my sorrows with Blatz. That's how I roll, or not.

On tap at Newark Airport, New York. Pours a clear mahogany colour with a creamy beige head. Malty aroma of leather, bread, fudge and grass. Flavour of cloves, leather, caramel and bread crust. Has a slick mouth feel, light to medium body and a light bitterness. A malty and balanced lager with a nice spicy touch.

12/19/17 Had with Mark and Sarah on an improvised beer night. Look: almost opaque with a tan head. Look: clear copper without much head. I like the Christmas tree label. Nose: malty/lager smell with slight hops Taste: follows the smell + some cinnamon/warm spices Palate: medium/ mouthfeel and goes down easy Overall: Good flavor but not as assertive as it could be. Definitely not my favorite from Sam Adams.
