COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

Orange amber in color. Hint of citrus and ginger with the aroma and taste. Needs to be slightly more winter spices for my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

For a spiced beer, this does a really good job of keeping everything in balance. The malt is sweet and a little spicy, which blends well with the orange peel to give it a taste that works really well for the holidays. Reminded me of a spiced Oktoberfest. Good stuff.

Popoff91 (124) - Oregon, USA - NOV 7, 2016
12-ounce bottles in a pilsner glass. Tastes somewhat like their Boston Lager with a but more malt, which isn’t bad, although when the ginger kicks in it erases every other flavor. I like ginger in food, not so much in drink. Overall, not bad, although I would rather just get the Boston Lager instead.

Draught. Pours a murky amber with a sudsy off white head. Aroma is of biscuit, toffee, nutmeg. Taste is of toffee, warming spices, nutmeg, hint of clove and biscuit to finish. Watery mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

PanMarek (464) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 21, 2016
Dark, reddish pour with thin beige foam. Malty nose, with notes of caramel and some spice. Medium body, slightly slick with thin fizz. The spices come out in the taste and as it warms. Nice combination of cinnamon, orange, and ginger. The malts are slightly dominant. It’s a good light-bodied variation on a winter beer.

355ml bottle. Clear coppery amber with a small off-white head. Poor retention. Caramel, honey, nuts and spicy aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is sweet with spicy notes. Overall, nice beer.
