Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

On tap at the dutch, deep amber small off white head with moderate retention. Nose of cereal and light grass. Malty cerealness caresses the palate balanced with lightly cutting bitterness. Flowery and grass. Medium bodied and quiet enjoyable of this mid fall day. Rated via BeerBuddy

Clear, copper color. Tiny, very delicate head. Aroma is not super intense, but definitely you can notice the extras. Most clear is orange peel, then a bit of cinnamon and ginger. Its also just a bit malty. Pleasant aroma. Similar case in taste, enjoyable but not really overwhelming. Not strong enough to be real winter warmer, but still spices make a difference. Perfectly carbonated, pretty smooth. Its ok.

Orange amber in color. Hint of citrus and ginger with the aroma and taste. Needs to be slightly more winter spices for my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

For a spiced beer, this does a really good job of keeping everything in balance. The malt is sweet and a little spicy, which blends well with the orange peel to give it a taste that works really well for the holidays. Reminded me of a spiced Oktoberfest. Good stuff.

12-ounce bottles in a pilsner glass. Tastes somewhat like their Boston Lager with a but more malt, which isnt bad, although when the ginger kicks in it erases every other flavor. I like ginger in food, not so much in drink. Overall, not bad, although I would rather just get the Boston Lager instead.

Draught. Pours a murky amber with a sudsy off white head. Aroma is of biscuit, toffee, nutmeg. Taste is of toffee, warming spices, nutmeg, hint of clove and biscuit to finish. Watery mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
