UPDATED: NOV 4, 2017 Pours clear golden yellow with a white head. Aromas of malt and spices nothing special. Light mouth feel. Little lacing in the glass. oobawa (1729) - Tennessee, USA - NOV 2, 2017
Nothing too interesting going on with this pint, basically a restrained winter warmer that comes and goes from your palate with nary a trace. Malt-forward with caramel and mild toffee notes backed up by a subtle citric undertone and mild hints of cinnamon and ginger. Doesn't taste like hand lotion, which puts in head and shoulder above half the other beers in the winter warmer category, but also never establishes any character beyond its general mediocrity. Has its proponents, though (like my mom), and there's nothing offensive here, just a malt-driven dark lager with yuletide spicing. Pretty pour comes out red-orange with a lasting white head and moderate lacing. Basic lager aroma, no more, no less. Creamy texture and full body feel like winter beer, so that's nice. No-frills holiday brew. Bill Becker (1770) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 17, 2017
From Dec 2005
Poured from bottle(rom temp) a medium gold with a fairly large head that dissipated slowly...good lacing.
The smell is of sweet spices and malt though I had to work to sense them.
The taste is quite nice. I taste roasted malt with a dash of spice, mainly the cinnamon mentioned on the label;^) And...it has a nice lingering aftertaste of said spices with just a bit of bitterness.
Overall, this is a good example of the style and I recommend it.
PS: The Sam Adams holiday pack in general is pleasing; only the Cranberry "Lambic" disappointed me.

May 2015. I've had this beer many many times, and used to like it. Now, not so much. I don't care for the spices so much. But it's a decent brew
