COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

Dark amber in color. All sorts of spices in the air, combined with malts. Very malty and spicy beer. Good beer to drink through-out winter.

Tap sample at beerbistro. Coppery orange, translucent, smallish beige head. Nose of rather subdued malts and spiciness, not what I was expecting. Tastes more Christmasy but the watery mouthfeel ruins my overall impression. Cinnamon and cuminseed (which isnt there...) flavour perhaps most dominant, a tiny hint of ginger. I wouldnt consider this a very good beer, nor a Bock, as it was labelled in the menu. Sub-par yet in itself not disastrous nor totally undrinkable... Wouldnt want a whole bottle though!

Clear dark caramel colour, light tan head. Spicy aroma, full of cinnamon, ginger, orange, green herbs and hops. Mild sweet taste, hints of caramel, ginger, hops and yeast. Light body, bitter aftertaste, fizzy carbonation. Quite good and refreshing.

Tap. A: Dark caramel thats near to red. Creme color head. N: Toffee, peppercorn, fall leaves, earth, substantial grapefruit, but not in a pleasant way, cracker, some green apple, cherry, and bark. T: Sweet, bitter, and slightly lactic. M: Medium light body, no alcohol, crisp carbonation. O: Its OK. Nothing to write home about and certainly not in the same zip code as Jubel.

Dark amber pour with thin lasting cap of beige. Aromas are pleasantly malty bread, caramel, and very light winter spices. All of the smells are amplified in the taste - very full-bodied for such low abv. Tasty, malty, but never overly sweet, if finishes clean and neat. One of Sams best recipes.

Darker color, small-medium head, seasonal spices were noticeable and good, some sweetness and then a bit of bitterness. Actually good, not bad but not great. I normally dont order any of the standard macro-brand beers at our local restaurants, but they are now serving Winter Lager as their high-end beer on tap and I have ordered it a few times. Its decent.

Malty, bready, and a slight sweetness. A strong malt presence is prominent there as you first smell it. A solid offering for the season. Not great but a good, to very good, offering from Sam Adams.

700th beer rated for 2016. Bottled from winter variety pack. Pours ruby mahogany color, off white head. Aroma is toffee, fig, cinnamon, ginger, orange. Flavor is cinnamon, fig, raisin, some orangey citrus. Not bad actually.
