22nd March 2008. Very darkbrown beer - almost opaque, but not cloudy. Very mild toasted malt. Very light hops in the dry finish and very drinkable!

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2014 This has a great toffee character...tastes like the top of a crème brulée. Yum.

Keg (Wortley Almshouses, Peterborough)
Dark, huge keggy beige head. Slightly sour aroma. Dark malts. Taste is more caramelly, but has an OK roast. Watery, but refreshing. Milky in places. A bit like some breakfast cereal. A bit chemical in places. Ice cream?

Keg at The Olde Murenger House, Newport, Gwent, Wales. Dark brown with cream head. Pretty thin, malty beer with a toffee’d character. Boiled vegetable notes. Not great.

Keg, 2.8 % avb, half-pint at the Samuel Smith pub Angel Inn. Nitro creamy, beige head blanketing the glass. Almost black in body appearance. Lightly roasted malty taste, hints of earth and chocolate. Dark malty taste, hints of chocolate and nuts. Lightly roasted ending. Thin bodied, still quite smooth on the swallow. Easy going, decent mild. (Leeds 05.07.2017).

Pint at the white horse Soho. Probably the worst pint of the evening. Caramel toffee apple aroma Some of the same in the flavour. Light body.

Disappointing mild which is crisp, but only as its lacks character and flavour. Keeps a nice head though.

Keg at Sinclair’s Oyster Bar, Manchester. Very dark brown. Good caramel, slightly sweet. Ok hops, with a touch of sourness, and chocolate. Really Mild. Nice and nutty, very enjoyable. Slightly sweet malt and chocolate finish.
