COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Handcrafted at Melbourn Bros’ tiny brewery set in a time warp in Stamford using the old manually operated brewing equipment. finest organically grown barley and wheat are used to create a complex ale which having undergone primary and secondary fermentation with different yeasts and extended maturation, is taken to Samuel Smith’s small, independent British brewery at Tadcaster. There it is blended with pure organic apricot fruit juice and a previously cellared organic brew - creating an unparalleled fruit ale. The smooth distinctive character of the matured ale serves as the perfect counterpoint to the pure organic fruit juice.

Cask at The Captain Kidd, Wapping, London, Saturday 23rd May 2015 Warm gold in colour with a slim white head. Lots of apricot on the nose and really apricot in the mouth although a rather different beast to Fou Foune, very pleasant but quite sweet, juicy apricots aplenty. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

2014-12-23. Dark yellow body with a nice white head and light lace. 3+ Aroma is quite sweet and fruity, apricot character is strong. Flavour is similarly sweet and fruity, lots of apricot character. Smooth average bodied palate, soft to low carbonation. Decent apricot character but not much else. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto.

Bottle, shared around the table at game night (Caverna!). Mellow golden body average white head. Full on apricot aroma, natural but sweet, with bready undertones. Sweet juicy apricot opens the palate, but there is a nice malt structure here that shares equal billing-- this isn’t just a fruit juice fizzy drink-- and best of all, there is a nice bitterness in the finish. There is no comment on the label about the hops used in this beer, but they impart a balance that make this fruit beer such a pleasure. A great patio brew.

550ml bottle, shared with my mom. Decent, thin white head. Completely hazy yellow / orange color, looks very fruity. Lighter carbonation, more dry texture. Very nice, pronounced apricot juice flavor. Nice, sort of tart sweet taste. Nice tasty juicy ale. I wasn’t really impressed with the first few beers I tried from this brewery, but this one is a winner. Maybe I should try more of their "organic" offerings..

11/10/12. Bottle sampled at Grassroots. Hazy orange yellow pour with a small yellowish head. Fruity apricot aroma with a hint of tartness. The flavor is also sweet apricot but with a bit of sour as well. Apricot isn’t really my thing but this isn’t atrocious.

Erzengel (8624) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - MAR 30, 2016
*Old rating. Nice fruity apricot nose. The beer is fruity and fresh. Sweetish apricot jam, easy to drink. A bit sweetish but round, fruity and nice! Sessionable with not too much depth.
