Quite a good taste, ruined by the aftertaste which is bitter and lingers, ever so slightly sweet

Charakter bardzo śliwkowy, nieco wędzony - choć nigdzie nie doczytałem by to piwo było wędzone;), do tego kakao i czekolada, jak na risa dość lekki i wodnisty, ale smaczny, pijalny i przyjemny. Bardziej stout niż imperial stout, solidne piwo.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium thin tan foam subsiding average fast. Scent is light caramel and light flavors of nicotine/wood. Very good. Dry and high bitterness. Finish is light caramel and highly dry. Very good.

jjsint (2468) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2016
Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants, Cherry Hinton Road. Dark indigo/black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Opaque. Caramel, salt liquorice, seawater and a generous amount of tar in the aroma. Sweet taste with a decent balancing sourness. Theres a salty/umami note in the long finish with liquorice and tobacco in the aftertaste. Body is oily and fairly think. Really nice beer, would have scored even higher if it didnt smell so weird.

Appearance: opaque black with a thick tan head. Nose: roasted malts, dark chocolate, and espresso coffeestandard notes in stouts. Taste: a big arrival of dark chocolate at first and then develops with a little more bitter coffee notes. The roasted malt flavors stand out more during the finish and some toffee is present in the finish as well. Once the beer warms, it almost takes on a whole new characteristic with the dark roast coffee dominating the palate while some subtle raisin, booze, and hops linger in the background. Mouthfeel: smooth, full body. When cold, the finish is sticky; when warm, the finish is much drier. Overall: nice complexity all around. This beer is only 7.0% ABV, which is weak compared to most other imperial stouts, but thats absolutely fine. At this strength, there isnt a compromise in flavor, and it wont be too strong that it knocks you off your feet.
