Brewed at Samuel Smith’s small, traditional British brewery with well water (the original well sunk in 1758 is still in use), best barley malt, roasted barley, yeast and aromatic hops. Nut Brown Ale is relatively dry with a rich amber-brown colour and nutty flavour derived exclusively from small amounts of dark malt. Brown ales are a specialty of northern England. Fermented in ’stone Yorkshire squares’.

Completely enjoy the hazelnut and walnut taste. In this case the darker the beer the better!!

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2017 Very nice ale, amber in colour. Nutty and toffee type taste. Would definitely buy again.

Undated imperial pint > pint glass A: Clear mahogany or tea color with a short tan head that falls to a stubborn film. S: Sweet chocolate, a little stone fruit or fig, dark bread and faint alcohol. T: Unsweetened Chocolate and bitter hops blend nicely with bitterness lingering. A hint of tart cherry and hazelnut. M: Light and crisply carbonated. Slight resin on an otherwise fairly dry finish. O: Haven't had this in years and it's nice to revisit. Old standby still recommended.

Bottle. Clear chestnut brown. Moderate off-white head. The nose is caramel, toffee, minor nuts, cocoa. Light body. Fairly dry tasting. Really nutty here. Rich toffee and caramel. Flavourful. Lightly hoppy ending. Floral. It's OK because of the entire dryness. A very pleasant brew.

Pours a clear, dark amber/mahogany colour with average carbonation. Aroma is earthy, lightly roasted malts, slight nuttiness and some caramel. Taste is sweet, nuttiness shines through along with some caramel and fruitiness. Well balanced with slight hoppy bitterness. Medium-bodied, very enjoyable beer. Paired really well with Thai Red Chicken Curry - robust enough flavours to stand up to the dish; carbonation and hop bitterness help to cut through the spice and cleanse the palate whilst malty sweetness blends together with sweetness and spices in the dish to make a great match!

12oz bottle at home. Clear medium brown with a frothy off-white head. Caramel, nuts, cocoa, wood, dark fruit, dark bready malt. Medium-light body. Lingering nutty, mildly malty finish. Don't drink this too cold.

Clear light brown red, 2 fingers of foam, off white foam. Very nutty aromas with caramel and butterscotch, sweet overall. Nutty taste, some butterscotch, burnt malt, medium bitterness in the finish. Nice end reliable.
