4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: SEP 22, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a rich medium to dark brown with a translucent red hue and had an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown foamy head that had decent retention and produced some nice lacing.
The aroma was that of a roasted caramel malt and a leathery yeast with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and molasses.
It tasted very malty and mildly sweet with a hint of chocolate at first and finished with a slightly bitter coffee flavor that stayed with you for a nice long while after the swallow.
Its mouthfeel was tremendous, smooth and creamy in texture and a solid medium in body with a very soft carbonation.
Overall a superb Nut Brown ale, one of the best I have ever tried. But then again most brews from this brewer are just awesome!!

Bottle at the Rising Sun in Smithfield. Poured well with a big foaming head and a nice dark colour in the glass. It was served way too cold and it took a while for the flavours to really appear. Wood, malt, a definite nuttiness and a sweet mouthfeel. As it warmed the aroma really started to appear and there was a definite hint of hazelnuts. A pleasant beer, but by the end the sweetness was a bit too much for me.

Pours a clear, dark amber with a medium, off white head. The aroma is a heavy balance of nuts, earthy malts, and floral hops with some weaker bread and vanilla. The taste is a little sweet and dry and unfortunately, kind of weak. Having both toasted and earthy malts, its big on nuts and toffee. Minor licorice and raisin are found as well. Easy toffee aftertaste lingers. Medium bodied, thin in texture, adn average in carbonation. Not bad really. Just not all that special. Beachmaster (558) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 14, 2017
Bomber into a pint. Pours a clear dark brown, with a medium khaki head that lasts, leaving good lacing. Nose is dark malt and nuts. Taste follows, with a long finish and medium mouth feel. Moderately bitter, not at all astringent. Classic British brown. Good stuff, easy drinking. csaso (2284) - Missouri, USA - MAY 4, 2017
Bottle - average size foamy head, pretty dark amber/brown color, sweet malty aroma and flavor with some mild nut flavors, mild hop balance, pretty easy drinking and tasty overall Jury (288) - RUSSIA - APR 26, 2017
