Instant "wow" upon first sniff and then a bigger "WOW" upon first sip. This is like drinking fresh, crisp, sweet apricots perfectly in season. Reminiscent of an English Perry with more freshness, sweetness and bite. The color is apricot in hue (obviously right?), the liquid flows nicely into the Spigelau austrian crystal beer snifter I used to serve this gem of a brew. If you are into fruit brews, lambics, ciders or just want to try something new and delicious, Sam Smith is your boy. Not overly sweet or overly fruity...great Sunday sipper.

Heavy notes of apricot, extremely fruit forward and sweet, but pleasant character, great ale backbone, not bitter or sour in the slightest, crowd-pleasing!

550 ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.
Looks: Translucent apricot - honey amber colour with traces of yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which last for about 40 seconds; Small sticky lacing with notable fizzy carbonation.
Aroma: Fragrant apricot jam, sugar, fresh apricot, orange peels, floral nectar, light malt and faint grass.
Taste: Nice strong sweet + tart apricot flesh / jam and juice, orange marmalade, orange peels, molasses, apple wine, strong tannic, light ale malt, light earth, lemon and light grass.
Body: Mid to light, with thin and slightly slick palate.
Palate: An initial burst of refreshing and very rich apricot jam and flesh. Sweetness is strong but was instantly balanced by equally strong tartness, followed by orange marmalade, and then the apple cider taste and strong tannic sat in. This is amazing!
Hoppiness: Light grass nose, lemony and light grass taste. Bitterness is replaced by chop licking strong tannic finish.
After Taste: Fairly dry, nicely sweet and tart to mouth.
Comments: Looking for an excellent fruit beer? Look no further: rich smell and taste of refreshing apricot and orange marmalade, with good balance of cider-like tartness and tannic. A very complex fruit ale and worth savouring each sip. Highly recommended!
Pours a hazy golden colour with 1-1/2 finger of lasting head. Aroma of apricots and honey.Taste matches the aroma with some refreshing citrus notes. Moderate carbonation. Excellent fruit beer. arkotramathorn (41) - Eau Claire, USA - JUN 14, 2012
Pours orange gold with thick white head. Aroma of smokey apricots and wheaty beer, hint of yeast in the background. Tastes of apricot is not at all overpowering, its very nicely balanced with the beer. Apricot mixed with slightly yeasty breadiness, and a nice beer crispness to back up the sweetness that coats your tongue from the apricots. I don’t know if I can say anything bad about this, I really enjoyed this beer and its by far my favorite "fruit" beer, though it doesnt behave like other fruit beers.

A- Apricots, wheat.
A- Peach color, cloudy liquid, white head.
T- Apricots, subtle spices, slightly sweet, slightly tart.
P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, fruity finish.
O- If you don’t like fruit beer you haven’t had Samuel Smith’s offerings. The apricot tones here are done so well it’s almost unbelievable. BiiruBierBeer (1049) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - SEP 21, 2014
Smells like apricots. Texture is kind of watery, light foam, and very little fizz, kind of like drinking soda after it is almost (but clearly not) flat. Tastes like apricots with natural sweetness. Extremely pleasant aftertaste like a tart peach. lbianchi66 (397) - FRANCE - AUG 19, 2015
Légèrement aigre mais aussi sucrée sans excès. Bien équilibrée.
Enfin une bonne bière aux fruits! minutemat (5546) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2015
Bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Aug 15, courtesy of Mike S. Can’t actually recall having an apricot beer before. This is lovely. Vibrant apricot taste, it’s almost like an apricot juice drink than a beer. But as I love fruit, and smoothies, I can’t help falling in love with this. Very good. Aroma’s fresh, ripe apricots, yeast, and a hint of malt. Flavor’s similar to nose, mostly sweet offset with a bit of tart and just right carbonation. Slightly chewy. Excellent finish. Goes great with an aged cheddar.
