Non sono riuscito a finire il bicchiere. Aroma e gusto decisamente artificiali e stucchevoli. Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours dark brown with a little head. The aroma features mostly chocolate and cocoa with some roasty maltiness in the background. Taste is medium sweet with expectedly cocoa heavily on the forefront, some hazelnut and milk chocolate sidelining. A bit one-dimensional flavour profile but the body is by and large able to support it; it is about medium in strength. Velvety smooth texture. Sweet and chocolaty but not much else. 550ml Flasche. Alengrin (5629) - BELGIUM - MAR 20, 2016
Organic stout made with cocoa extract, thanks to Jan for sharing. Thick, lacing, pale yellowish beige, stable head on top of a very dark (blackish) chestnut brown beer. Aroma mostly consists of a lot of sweet and fragrant cocoa powder, of the kind I used to make chocolate milk with when I was a child; apart from that, there are much more subtle hints of toffee, toasted bread, iron, brown sugar, dried flowers and coffee grounds. Sweetish onset but less overpowering and much less sweet in terms of chocolate than expected based on the aroma, mild carbonation, toffeeish malt sweetness with a toasted, bittering edge, thin body with a metallic ’sound’ to it, soft herbal hops in the finish, bittersweet. I liked the aroma, one-sided as it may be, much more than the actual taste, which I expected to be thicker and sweeter, but this is in any case a very interesting beer. Sweet chocolate and vanilla aroma. Dark black in colour with a good sized yellowish head. Sweet chocolate flavour with notes of vanilla and lightly roasted coffee. Full bodied with a long and sweet finish. Enjoyable.

500ml LCBO: black, almost opaque Porter with a deep reddish hue. Tan head with nice lace. Medium carbonation. Nose is sweet biscuits, chocolate, and espresso. Taste is bold. Very sweet flavours of coffee cake, cocoa, and a little licorice. Medium, Creamy body with a slick mouthfeel and a nice bitterness in the end. Still a bit too sweet for me though. piękna brązwo-berzowa piana niestety dosyć szybko opada)
Poured from a bottle. Pours a dark brown with a huge tan head and plenty of lacing. Aroma of rich sweet chocolate. Light carbonation and medium body. Taste is loaded with milk chocolate and cocoa and is rich, creamy, and smooth. Its like drinking melted Rocky Road ice cream. Enjoyable but a tad too sweet to drink often. migwell (366) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 17, 2016
I’m not knocked out by this one. Sort of like a thin bodied porter with cocoa powder in it. It does pour well, into the SS nonic which was included in a box with three 550ml sample brews. Aroma of sweet chocolate is quite evident. Big beige head that dissipates to a film. So far, so good on aroma and appearance. Next the disappointments. The taste is sort of a watery Swiss Miss with some hops in it, the body is quite thin for a stout, and this brew lacks any complexity. Yet another primo choice for those who actually don’t like beer and ale. Bland. Geiserich (4573) - Linz, AUSTRIA - MAR 16, 2016
Bottle from Biertempel, Linz: Aroma is sweet, intensive milk chocolate note, vanilla, cacao powder. Black color, creamy brown head. Flavor is sweet, intensive milk chocolate notes, cacao, roastiness. Ends roasty with roast bitterness and some cacao powder dryness. Much to sweet for me and chocolate note is also much too intensive.
