550 ml bottle into imperial pint glass, bottled on 4/13/2012. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toast, molasses, brown bread, raisin, light roasted malt, earth, and light herbal hops. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity; fairly light on strength. Taste of chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, toast, toffee, molasses, light coffee, brown bread, raisin, light nuttiness, earth, and herbal hops. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, toast, toffee, roasted malt, light coffee, brown bread, raisin, earth, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance of nicely robust flavors with good complexity; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice English porter. Very nice robustness and balance of flavors; and extremely smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering as expected.

355ml bottle from BeerMa. Pours a deep cola brown, big tan head that stays around. Chocolate and roasty aroma, a little nut or oat. Great full taste as it warms, roasted barley and chocolate. Simple yet very pleasing. Good smooth feel, medium bitterness with a dry finish. Not huge in flavour range but you can’t fault the execution in the slightest.

550ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma: light roasted malt, liquorice, raisin, chocolate. Taste: light roasted malt, liquorice, caramel, hint of chocolate and a slight sugary sweetness, finish is bitter. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nice smooth easy drinking porter.

Pours a very deep brown with a medium, foamy, tan head that settles pretty quickly. The aroma consists of roasted malts, chocolate, licorice, lesser raisin, and hints of nuts. The taste is dry, mildly bitter, and kind of underwhelming actually. The chocolate along with a fairly heavy caramel are the most pronounced flavors, while undertones are barley, licorice, and hints of coffee. Weak chocolate aftertaste. Light in body, smooth in texture, and a bit softer in carbonation. This isn’t bad at all, but I get the feeling that this one is lacking something.

355 ml. bottle @ Home. Aroma: not very intense but pleasant aromas of prunes, raisins, porto wine, sherry. Hints of caramel, malts, toasted and roasted malts, yeast. Appearance: brown to dark brown color. It’s hard to see, but it seems quite clear. High head thickness. Light brown foam made of mid sized bubbles and very creamy. High retention. Low to medium Brussels’ lacing. Taste: low to medium sweetness, low to medium bitterness, no sourness. Very pleasant and not very intense flavors with hints of dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, caramel, raisins, prunes, spices, dark fruits. Very well balanced. It seems it needs more flavor intensity. Palate: medium body, silky texture, low carbonation, quite long finish slightly sweet finish with a lot of not very intense flavors: dark chocolate, dark coffee, caramel, toasted malts, malts, roasted malts, prunes, raisins. Overall: pleasant and subtle aromas and flavors of dark chocolate, dark coffee, roasted and toasted malts, prunes, raisins, caramel. Very well balanced. There is no astringency at all despite of the roasted malts. Good Porter. Well brewed. Very high drinkability, one of the most drinkable Porters i’ve tested so far. I miss more intense flavor and aromas.
