Sam Smith has this unfortunate position in the market: if you want English beer for whatever reason, thats the one you know, but for most people it reinforces the notion that English beer is just boring in general. A certain number of people want to have imported English beer available, and Sam Smith fills that spot, but it doesnt inspire anyone to look for other, different English beers. So aside from the high-end specialty beer shops, no one one carries any "craft" English beer, and the vast majority of people dont know it exists.

Wychodzi ?liwka, lekka s?odycz, kompletnie brakuje goryczki. Little plum and sweetness, defenitly missing bitterness.

Decent old-school porter, offering up roasted malt with a mocha-ish backbone, coupled with a mild cherry-apricot tang and a mild English hop bitterness. Dry despite the added sugar, with a raisin-chocolate undercurrent that comes through as it warms. Finishes yeasty and has a bit of a neutral fade. Drinkable, yet kinda hard to appreciate after so many amazing American porters.

Opaque, deep brown color with beige, creamy foam that lasts. Lots of malt and toasted barley in the nose with some chocolate and some fruity notes. Touches of bitterness and maybe a little tart too. The taste is slightly less sweet as the bitter roasted barley comes out. There is a dryness to it as well. Medium body, smooth, little fizz.

12 ounce bottle at home. You can smell the roasted coffee and sugar in this very smooth beer. Medium bodied and some sweetness to this lightly carbonated beer. This is a really nice and drinkable beer.

Bottle. Very dark brown to black in colour. Very malty (espresso coffee, dusty dark chocolate, roast malts). Fruity (dark fruits, raisins). Full-bodied beer with intense dry tangy chocolaty character. Sweetish, ending in a slight hop bitterness. Very drinkable. Lovely Porter. (2011-07-20)

Bottle. Black with a shade of brown. Small head. Aroma of barley and roasted malts. Minimal vinous and fruity. Taste is malts, dark chocolate, cocoa and a hint of coffee. Sweet. Dry. Some hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Low carbonation. Oily and slightly sticky mouthfeel. Well done and balanced.
