12 oz. bottle. Pours a rich creamy coffee brown with a small tan head. Nose is sweet. Syrup, licorice, raisins and dates, milk chocolate. Flavors of brown sugar, charred wood/black toast, cocoa powder. Mild carbonation, honeylike finish. Light bodied. Aftertaste of black coffee. Perhaps the best looking porter that I have found. An old time porter.

C. Pours a dark brown color with white head. Metallic aroma, not much flavor, but has a weird after taste

Aroma rather weak: some pleasant coffee at first but licorice quickly taking over. Taste licorice, some anise, vanilla and coffee. Rather uncharacteristic for a porter. Decent complexity for such a low abv but licorice too dominant for my taste. Soft MF.

Bottle @King William, Bristol. Thick, creamy head, very dark brown colour. Aroma: roasted malts, berries, nail. Bitter taste, full body, long finish, average carbonation. Quite alright except strong aroma of nails.

Acquistata @MercadoCentral in Valencia (Spain). Nero impenetrabile. Schiuma nocciola spumosa e persistente. Al naso note tostate e maltate, con punta acidula e sentori di frutta secca e prugne secche. In bocca note di cioccolato fondente, caffè, zucchero di canna, toffee, ma il tutto poco pronunciato in confronto a altre Porter. Corpo esile. Texture quasi oleosa. Carbonazione medio-bassa. Finale pulito. Tutto sommato beverina.

Ruikt niet zo sterk. Smaakt prima. Niet super, wel gewoon lekker. Wat nog meer.

From Jun 2007 Purchased at Liquor Shed in Casper for US$3.70 This pours from 550ML bottle a very nice amber with a large head of foam that *also* just won't quit. And yeah, there's plenty of lacing there to give this Nutbrown Ale very good marks for appearance. The smell has a sweetish nose to it. I'm getting notes of sweet malt and some fruit. The taste has a big sweet malt profile up front and some nuttiness in the background. A few more sips in and I get some chocolate flavour and some hop zest that balances out the sweetness very nicely. Man, this is heck of a drinker and at 5%abv, this is one fine session brew. Oh, now I'm getting a touch of molasses and more of the lemon zest. Wow. This is another Samuel Smith offering that I could drink all night long. Well done! Highly recommended!! Bottom line: Samuel Smiths certainly can crank out the fine brews. No wonder they are my favourite brewery from the UK!
