UPDATED: JUL 11, 2011 Bottle. Poured a medium amber in color with a super small white fizzy head and virtually had no lacing to speak of. The aroma was almost non-existent with a slight hint of bready malts and doughy yeast with just a very slight hint of caramel and some spice. It tasted slightly bitter with a very, very mild hint of spice in the beginning but the flavor faded quickly and left you with no real flavor at the finish. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a flat carbonation. Overall nothing special definitely not worth having another. Which I find quite surprising coming from this brewer who puts out some of the best tasting beers in the world.

Amber. Malty and fruity character with a hint of caramel, and a sweetish taste that finishes dry and moderately bitter. Medium body. Overall, a good strong ale. It is clean and tasty, but also rather simple. I was hoping for something richer.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2017 From Labirratorium. In Ikea?s pint glass. Reading JHTP11 Ch23. Very balanced, with a malty taste (well balanced with bitterness) that surely wont displease anybody but doesnt enthusiasm either. Not much much winterly, wihout spicy notes.

Dark amber with some carbonation visible. Average white head, decent persistence and nice lacing. Nutty and caramel malt base, underlying fruity notes and a delicate mineral feel. Taste starts sweet as suggested with caramel and nutty flavours, plus slight fruitiness and spiciness showing up here and there. Finishes slightly on the bitter side with earthy and leafy (tea-like) hops. Overall in good balance and nice but not too bright/vivid. Medium bodied with average carbonation (actually higher than your classic english ale). Enjoyable

550 ml bottle from lcbo. Quiet pour with adequate carbonation and a malty aroma with a spicy undertone. The colour is bright amber with a rich tan head and good lace. The taste starts with a malty smoothness and a hint of spice and a nutty ambience that expands into the middle. The finish is long with a hop dryness emerging to provide a good overall balance. Good mouthfeel.

Cardamom, vanilla, mint and dark malt aroma. Clear, amber color with frothy white head. Nice Samuel Smiths maltiness with a cool mellowing but bland finish.

Great sweet nutty aroma. Very thin brown color nice lasting frothy head. Slight woody on a bitter grain, a little rotten apple. A strange apple seed aftertaste.

Aroma: dry and malty, roasty; Appearance: clear amber pour with white head that lingers; Taste: very malty with a slightly dry finish; Palate: medium-heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: not great, but palatable. Would probably not get again.
