Some of the oak casks at Samuel Smith’s date back more than a century with the individual oak staves being replaced by the Old Brewery coopers over the years. Gradually the casks soak in more & more of the character of the ale fermented in stone Yorkshire squares. Yorkshire Stingo is aged for at least a year, matured in these well-used oak casks in the brewery’s underground cellars deriving fruit, raisin, treacle toffee, Christmas pudding and slight oaky flavours, before being further naturally conditioned in bottle.

Found a bottle of this luckily. Pours a bright reddish color with a solid white head. Aroma was of vanilla, oak, and ripe fruit. The extensive aging process this beer has undergo made it very mellow. Sweet fruits, smoky oak, vanilla, and slight hoppiness. Mouth feel was a touch thin possibly from the age of the beer. Not bad, but doesn’t stand out. Way over priced.

Bottle brought home from Sam Smith pub. Pours medium dark amber with a thin tan head residing. Fined I think. Scent is loads of Christmas cake. Raisins. Traditional ale yeast. Tastes is soft and mellow ale with lots of citric properties. Mild. Lovely. Smooth. A bit peppery. Great.

Ciekawa odmiana, rzadki styl, smaczne piwo. 8/4/7/4/14

Aromas of citrus, herbs, cask wood and caramel, pours a dark golden colour, good sized lasting off white head, well balanced mildly bitter, easy drinking with a warming sensation

Ar: Wood, prune, dried pineapple; deeply toasted. Ap: True amber and deeply hazy; large very light tan head with good retention, leaving a disc of foam and a webby layer of lacing. T: Smooth nougat, pineapple, and green pear; sweetness is moderate; hint of molasses, malt profile is toast and well-cooked biscuit; very brown-sugar like; toffee and cream; bitterness is medium and herbal, with some berry notes; lots of nougat and almond on the finish. P: Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation; lush and rich; finish is medium-dry. O: A prototype of an English Strong ale; lots of dark sugar and fruit; malt profile is deep and rich, though very well integrated; spectacular!

Brown color with a tan head. Dried fruit, marcipan and malty aroma. Reminds me off a belgian quadruppel without the complex notes. Taste of caramel, some nutts and a sweet fininsh.
