Bottle conditioned only. Previously 8.0%.
Some of the oak casks at Samuel Smith’s date back more than a century with the individual oak staves being replaced by the Old Brewery coopers over the years. Gradually the casks soak in more & more of the character of the ale fermented in stone Yorkshire squares. Yorkshire Stingo is aged for at least a year, matured in these well-used oak casks in the brewery’s underground cellars deriving fruit, raisin, treacle toffee, Christmas pudding and slight oaky flavours, before being further naturally conditioned in bottle.

500ml bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy dark amber color with a small. Dark fruits, sweet malts, can really feel the alcohol in this one. Flavor is sweet malts, some light roasted notes, dark and dried fruits. Alcohol is extremely noticeable here. Not exactly my thing, though it could have been my attempt at doing all 500ml myself. Had it been a 12oz bottle, things may have turned out differently.

Aromat: słodki i bardzo przyjemny, rodzynki, daktyle, figi, owoce kandyzowane, słodkie białe winogrona, karmel, toffi. Świetne nuty utlenienia, bardzo dobrze ułożony i bogaty zapach, zero nut alkoholu. Wygląd: ciemna miedź, czyste, bardzo ładna, jasnokremowa warstwa piany, dosyć wysoka, chwilę się utrzymuje. Smak: nie jest tak słodkie jakby wskazywał na to zapach. Karmel, ale nie przegięty, dużo nut utlenienia, suszone owoce, jabłka i gruszki, rodzynki. ciemne i świeże owoce lasu, słodkie, białe oraz czerwone winogrona. trochę goryczki tam jest, generalne piwo lżejszego kalibru od barley wine czy też quada, choć ma trochę cech wspólnych z nimi, ale na pewno jest mniej słodkie, mniej ciężkie, lżejsze teksturą i bardziej pijalne. Trochę świeżej i owocowej soczystości jest tu, a także goryczka. Dębina też wyczuwalna, ale nie że jakoś dominuje. Odczucie: pełne, świetnie ułożone, nisko nasycone, lekko gorzkawe na finiszu, taką goryczą od suszu owocowego. Całość: bardzo ciekawe piwo, dobrze zbalansowane i ułożone, fajny wpływ beczki, aksamitne, smaczne. Jeśli chodzi o styl mógłbym pomylić je z old ale, choć chyba jest lżejsze, mniej utlenione a bardziej nachmielone. Ciekawa odmiana, rzadki styl, smaczne piwo. 8/4/7/4/14

Somewhere: pours clear brownish amber with an off white head. Aroma is toffee, caramel and baked fruits. Taste is sweet and fruity and caramelish and toffee. Old school. Thick.

Ar: Wood, prune, dried pineapple; deeply toasted. Ap: True amber and deeply hazy; large very light tan head with good retention, leaving a disc of foam and a webby layer of lacing. T: Smooth nougat, pineapple, and green pear; sweetness is moderate; hint of molasses, malt profile is toast and well-cooked biscuit; very brown-sugar like; toffee and cream; bitterness is medium and herbal, with some berry notes; lots of nougat and almond on the finish. P: Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation; lush and rich; finish is medium-dry. O: A prototype of an English Strong ale; lots of dark sugar and fruit; malt profile is deep and rich, though very well integrated; spectacular!

Brown color with a tan head. Dried fruit, marcipan and malty aroma. Reminds me off a belgian quadruppel without the complex notes. Taste of caramel, some nutts and a sweet fininsh.

Øllen er modnet på egetræsfade i mindst 1 år. Selvom den er på 8 procent er den let drikkelig, den er flaskegæret, hvis den får lov at stå så llænge

Orangey-brown color with a cream colored head. Dark dried fruit aroma with a little marzipan note. Leans towards sweet. Nutty with a touch of caramel. Complex, warming and perfectly balanced. This is traditional British brewing at its best.

Yup, definitely been aged in oak! Lots of vanilla, caramel and dried friut on the nose. It’s a smooth mouthful, rich and full flavoured, almost wine like with an excellent lingering finish. A treat, one to savour. Bought at Rheged Heritage Centre in Cumbria.
