Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a dark amber color with a white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel aroma. Sweetish malty spicy caramel flavor with weak hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty spicy caramel finish. JorisPPattyn (9982) - Ursel, BELGIUM - MAY 10, 2012
Draught Small off-white rim over deep brown beer with orange reflections. Chocolate, mocha, and berry or plum connotations. Sweet chocolate, coffee-and-chocolate base, mocha, sweet dark malts. Medium bodied and very slick. Better than the sum of its parts. Convincingly Scottish, but weak for an 80/- iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - JAN 17, 2012
Growler from the brewpub. Clear auburn brown with a small beige head, fair retention. Aroma of toasted malt and grain, some caramel, light smoke, and a little fruity yeast. Flavor follows suit with a little bit of vanilla added. Definitely malty, but not too sweet at all--the toasted malt is dominant enough over the caramel, and the prickly carbonation helps toward the semi-dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 2. Medium body with light to moderate prickly carbonation. Easy drinker, tasty enough.
