Draught Small, but very resistant off-white head. Nice hops, fruity & exotic fruit, ,with a somehow milky connotation. Passion fruit yoghurt. Sweet IPA! The fruit is there, with all the exotic flavours, but no bitterness, rather a lot of sweetness. Pity. Feels more carbonated than it looks. Fizzy, liquorice-like taste at the tonguesides. Not really hypnotic, rather somniferous. iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - DEC 9, 2011
Phone rate. Just got the tweet that this was back on tap as of yesterday. Hazy medium gold with a small off-white head, fades to a tattered island of film almost immediately. Citrus rind and sweaty hops up front, followed by some tropical fruit hops. The low carb makes nosing a little difficult, so I’m not getting much other than some caramel malt. Flavor has the tropical fruit hops a little stronger, though the sweaty rind still dominates. There are some rosy hops as well. Lightly sweet caramel and earthy notes come at the backend. Only a little grassy dry-hopping noted. Semi-dry, astringent bitterness peaks at a 6-7,alcohol is masked well, warming in the belly. Low carbonation with a medium full body. Not bad. bhightow01 (44) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 24, 2011
Draught. Clear orange-brown body with a soapy medium sized white head. The aroma is superbly fresh - really orangey with citrus skin resin. Slightly sweet, buttery flavour up front. The middle is reasonably sharp and piney with tangerine and melon fruit flavours. User134089 (1644) - - SEP 9, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a tap into a pint glass at San Diego Brewing Company. Color was caramel amber. Inch of head. Minimal lacing, more film on the sides.
Hoppy smells, but slight pine and slight citrus, mixed between lemon and grapefruit.
Strong initial taste. Nice balance of citrus/grapefruit and pine, ending with a bitter finish.
Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Fairly smooth. Consistent flow.
I had never heard of the Hopnotic until I went the other night. I guess it’s not always on tap at the SDBC, but I’m glad I tried it. Not too bad.

GABF. Clear amber yellow with no head. Smells like fruit rollups almost exactly, super hoppy but different from many DIPAs, light grain action. Taste has big citrus fruity hops throughout. All hop, though not overly bitter. Drinkable and overall very nice.

On tap. Pours with a clear amber-gold and a small white head. Aroma is citrus, floral, melon and sweetened yogurt (not lacto). Taste is dry, fruity, melon (cantaloupe), and a bit of table sugar. Dry finish with lively bubbles. brokensail (16631) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 15, 2010
A: The pour is a clear golden color with a finger’s worth of white head and some mild lacing on the glass.
S: A ton of citrus hops right up front. The nose is very lemony, more so than any other IPA I’ve come across. Quite a bit of grapefruit in there too.
T: The flavor is nice and bitter with a lot of citrus...a lot! Again, primarily grapefruit and lemons and intensely bitter. At times the bitterness seems a bit harsh and even solventy, however.
M: The body is pretty much what you would expect: medium with a moderate level of carbonation and a lingering bitterness.
D: This is a pretty nice beer, up there with the best that SDBC had to offer on this day. KimJohansen (10511) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - JUL 25, 2010
Cloudy amber with a medium off white head. Aroma had loads of hops, pine, grapefruits and pale malt. Flavour was bone dry with loads of hops, pine, grapefruits, pale malt and lemons. Finished dry and very bitter. brianjames1 (539) - Northridge, California, USA - JUN 18, 2010
On tap at SD Beer Co. Pours a crystal clear golden yellow with small white head. Strong citrus aromas. Medium mouthfeel with lots of carbo. Taste is very hoppy, piny, citrus, bitter! Great IPA DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 17, 2009
SD Brewers Guild Fest 09: Pours a bronze color, bubbly head. The body was syrupy, yet dry and and with medicinal hop notes. The finish was bitter with grapefruit rind and alcohol. Overall, it was somewhat hot, harsh, and certainly bitter...not that crafty really, just big, bold, and overdone...annoying citrus rind bitterness with not much complexity to go with it.
