On tap at San Marcos, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt and subdued hops. Flavour is fairly bold, with toasted bready malt, caramel and light hop resins. Not the most elegant of a blend, with lacking hop character and a fairly flimsy body. Okay. Tap at the brewery. Pours clear brown with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, toast notes, dates, and light earthy hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, dates, light earthy hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation. Stuedmaster (351) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 13, 2014
On tap at San Marcos Brewery. Amber/brown pour with a small tan head, little retention, slight lacing. Reminds me of a cross between an American and Belgian amber ale. Malty aroma, slight grass. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter, fruity and refreshing, easy to drink. Alcohol is well hidden. Goes well with food, a decent amber ale that can be consumed freely. slowrunner77 (11917) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
"This ale ended up coming across as a slightly suped up brown ale with not a lot of depth or clarity of character. Kinda dark, kinda toasty... Just an ok beer. Was hoping for better."

Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Sweet and lightly toasted malts, grains, toffee, some fruity notes, and hints of booze. Not bad.

In taster at brewery. Looks like a dark apricot with a bit of red. Smell isn’t too much beyond the amber maltness. Tastes pretty malty and stuff. Not amazing but overall a decent beer. overall 6 of 10 JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 14, 2010
Draft. Amber/brown pour, light tan head. Sweet malts, caramel, light fruit. Bad cheap tasting beer. Really not very good at all.
