330ml bottle at home. Pours hazy chocolate brown with a thin tan, fading tan head. Dark sweet malt, molasses (lots of molasses), brown bread. Light carbonation. Tap @ The 1925 Microbrewery & Restaurant, Singapore as San Miguel Negra. Very dark brown, good head. Sour vegetable malt aroma. Sour milky toffee flavour. Smooth and creamy. Not a good beer. A bottle from Jason’s near NCCU, drunk at home. Aroma: sour, bready, some molasses. Appearance: opaque, oxtail soup, minimal lacing. Palate: rather light-bodied, oily, soft carbonation. Noticably malty at the finish, but nothing spectacular. Taste: malty, quite flavoursome for its ABV. I would happily drink another, though I think I’m going down with a cold. Reason why I’ve tried this beer besides coming from San Miguel: I found it at Wellcome (one of the more local and Chinese oriented supermarket). Which confirms my prediction about the Chinese beer market switching to dark beers soon, and now it’s an invasion! And I’m very happy about this!
Coming to this beer it’s actually a surprise: nice appearance, dark brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, quite flat. Taste is the surprise: roasted malts, bread, molasses, caramel, ripe fruits. Absolutely decent! The rise of craft beer has helped the improvement of crap beer! Well done!
