Bottle. Pours a pale gold with a small white head. Aroma of grain and malt. Taste is similar with just a bit of hops. Not much going on with this beer.

Bottle from Murat Food Centre, Gedling Street, Nottingham. No relation to the common-all-garden Spanish giant; rare to see this Filipino beer in the UK. Pours amber, no head, high carbonation. Aroma is quite pleasant for a pale lager - less skunkiness and more bitter hoppiness. The taste is a surprise, too: initially strongly bitter and dry with citrus, orange, a hint of banana, ginger nut biscuits and pineapple. Bittersweet finish which is a lot longer than many a pale lager, with a likeable fizz at the end. Overall, Im impressed - despite the bland appearance - and this is my new favourite pale lager, which is a bit like having a favourite tropical disease.

Yeah pretty much just a run-of-the-mill pale lager. Not really any flavor or aroma, just inoffensive and light. Completely forgettable.

Clear golden straw with a light head covering and a thin layer of lace. Taste is another "industrial" beer: adjunct (corn?/rice?) provides an off- flavor that doesnt invite a second bottle. There is only light bittering from the carbonation, nothing else. Quite weak.

320ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small to average frothy white head. Bitter hop aroma, a strawy note. Monotonous strawy taste, light body, if able denoting, then soapy "finish".

Lived on this beer for three years. So glad to be back in North America. SMB is the staple beer of the Philippines. Its a full tasting beer with an unregulated alcohol content, in Philippines at least. Avoid it if you can.

This one isnt very good, but its very lager-y. Its on the level of "I dont want to drink this again" and isnt something Id recommend.

33cl bottle in Siem Reap. Clear pale golden with a small white head. Light malty aroma with a hint of caramel and a faint hint of hops. Sweet with very little bitterness. Far from what we know as pils, but no unpleasant aromas or flavours. Easy to drink and quite nice in the heat. (2012-05-03)
