Thanks to GhostFace for this one. Cheers, Neal! Pours an amber-orange with an off-white head. Nose is sweet malt almost like an amber, belgian fruity yeast, and some pine sap. Flavor is similar- lots of sweet malt with some Belgian yeast and bits of pine. Medium in body for a barleywine and nice overall. drpimento (3564) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 15, 2012
Poured this at a good temperature with a huge, foamy, frothy, billowy, light tan head that lasts a while and some lace. Color is a clear mahoganey with a few bubble trails. Aroma is hop, malt, roast, fruit, hint of licorice. Flavor is similar to nose, very smooth, on the mild side, fairly dry up front, then bitter, fruity, and a little carbonic tang. Body & carbonation are good. Finish alternates bitter/sweet, long and boozy. Fairly drinkable except, I suspect the strength. jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 1, 2012
Pours ebony black into the glass with a large light brown head. Nose is carmel and hops. Very creamy on the palate with a thick viscosity. The taste is full of dark roasted malt, chocolate, toffee with a slight hops finish. An excellent beer that pairs well with red meats off the grill or stands alone as an excellent nightcap. UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at the Fire House in Eau Claire. Very dark pour with a small white head. Nut, molasses, and dark fruit nose and taste. Quite good! Skyview (5907) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - APR 29, 2012
Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at The Coffee Grounds in Eau Clarie, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque bark brown colored brew with a creamy beige head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma roasted dark malt, a hint of soy, light molasses, some light prunes and a touch of raisin. Taste is medium to full bodied, flavor is quite complex with flavors of dark chocolate, molasses, dark pitted fruits, and some grassy hops. Finish is mildly spicy with a lingering bitterness , semi-dry, with some dark pitted fruit aftertaste.

Nice dark pour with a lasting head. Has a nice dark fruit scent, bold fruit flavored with an incredibly smooth alcohol taste.

Pours a clear very dark cola color with a full lumpy light tan head. Aroma is molasses and dark dried fruit. Taste is sweet roasted malt, blackstrap molasses, slightly bitter burnt coffee beans and raisins. Very complex, but well balanced. ABV is there too, but not in your face. Super stuff! emacgee (4674) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - FEB 19, 2012
Pours a viscous dark brown that sits near black in the glass. Two fingers of creamy tan head. Nose is slightly toasted and chocolaty with a forward malt character and herbal hop character. Slightly earthy. Metallic acidic dark grain character. Sharp and astringent. crossovert (12613) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2012
I didn’t expect too much, these black barleywines often suck, but this one is one of the better ones. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - FEB 4, 2012
