Pours a deep brown with a medium, smooth looking, light beige head. The aroma is sweet, with heavy vanilla, chocolate, light coffee, and cola. The taste is very sweet. Extremely strong vanilla, some chocolate, and some minor alcohol and roasted malts. Weak and lingering vanilla aftertaste. It's light in body, with a smooth texture, and with soft carbonation. L: pours a very dark brown, cola highlights, half finger of slightly creamy, fizzy head, a little lacing.
S: milk right off the top, vanilla coming with it, light roasted malt underneath. As it opens up it smells like milk chocolate. Nice, sweet, good for valentines.
T: follows the nose, a lactose/milk creamer flavour, backed by vanilla, malt, chocolate.
F: it starts and ends quite carbonated, with a middle of creamy medium body. The end carries the sweetness with the fizz, makes it a touch soda-like, perhaps the only real downside.

Bottle, 04/13/2015. Pours dark brown, fizzy light tan head, fades down to the surface with nice retention. Aroma a cloud of vanilla bean, rich chocolate undertones, sweet, like an vanilla ice cream sundae. Taste is chocolate malts upfront, porter-like notes, sweet vanilla, mellow roast and bitterness to offset in the finish. Not as sweet as the nose would imply. Light medium body, well carbonated. Great Japan Beer Fest 2014, Yokohama. Nice rich brown sugar color with a small tan head. Huge vanilla bean ice cream aroma with undertones of chocolate milk. Creamy, rich mouthfeel with a slight oily finish. The sweetness can be overbearing at times. Dessert beer for sure.

[ Courtesy of KyotoLefty (Mark) ]. ABV: 6.5%. Clear dark red brown color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, vanilla, artificial vanilla, wood notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, vanilla, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. 
Bottle, from 99 Bottles, in Singapore. Very dark brown, with a long lasting creamy cream head. Lovely aroma of cassisssss, which enforces the strong vinous character of this beer. Not much of a roasted taste, feeling more like a great porter. Chocolates on the flavour, the vanilla seems real, and the dark berry liqueur. Black pour with touches of ruby. Light tan head.
Nose is lactose, peat, licorice, roast, and chocolate. Peat was very confusing.
Taste is not that sweet and just touches of vanilla. More peat or oak in the taste. Had a fair amount of smoke.

From the bottle, pours black with a small beige head. No real lacing. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla. Taste is chocolate and vanilla, sweet, and more like a porter than a stout. There’s a lot in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and good carbonation. My personal preference is that this doesn’t need the vanilla. Enjoyed in Narita, Japan.
