Draught at the brewpub. Clear copper colour. Rich hop aroma with plenty of sweaty lychees. Medium sweet with lovely soft mouthfeel and some bready malt flavour. The malt might be completely overshadowed by the massive hops, but it’s still sufficient to carry the beer. Rounds off with California style bitterness. A delicious IPA! I had a go at this during the GABF after it won the Gold Medal. My impressions of it haven’t really changed with this latest sample, from a growler acquired by Per at the brewpub the day before. Bright bronze colour. Big explosive orangey, grapefruity aroma. Moderate bitterness, but also quite a bit of chewy sweetness for a regular IPA. Bright and flavourful. It loses points for the overt chewiness but is otherwise a solid, distinctive IPA. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 3, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2006 (Lupulin Slam III, draft) Crystal clear amber body with beige head. Aroma is truly inviting -- medium sweet, pine/grapefruit, some caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, pine, some caramel, light herb/mint -- fairly bitter. Medium body, some resin. I like the aroma better this time, but I still find it has a little too much sweetness. (9/4/7/4/15)

(GABF05) Crystal clear amber body with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel. Medium-full body with resin. Nice, but I find it a bit too sweet for greatness. (7/3/7/3/14)
Bottle. Amber beer with a nice off-white head. Slight citrus and summer fruit aroma. Summer fruit (apricot) and citrus flavor with some backing sweet malt. Lingering citrus and some resin. egajdzis (6502) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2004
Poured a hazy orange color with a medium sized off white head and some lacing. Mild sweet and citrus hop and bubblegum aroma. Sweet and fruity (orange, tangerine) taste with an average mouthfeel.

Gigantic rocky white head dominates the dulled gold body. Complex hop nose, all in balance where shine out heavy mintiness among an herbal quality that travels into citrusy territory. Concentrated pineapple and orange flavours in mouth take over the fair malt backings. Fully dried out. Very full bodied, engaging carbonation, foamy palate. Impressive. altonbrownd (5898) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - NOV 1, 2006
On tap at SB Brewing company. Nice amber beer with orange rinds taste to it. More fruit flavors and fizzy texture. Very good. tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 10, 2005
Strong grapefruit, citrus hop nose with some caramel and cereal malt character. Clear golden body is topped by a dense and lasting off white head that laces well. Sweet crystal malts mix well with herbal, leafy, lightly citrus, floral hop flavour and fairly strong bitterness. Medium body with lively carbonation that engages the tongue and cheeks. Sampled at GABF 2005. jazz88 (2677) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 21, 2006
Tap @ Toronado 8/11/06. A clear amber color with a laced off-white head. MIld grassy aroma with sweet smooth malty flavors. Finishs clean with a nice bitter bite and a hint of fruit. Smooth but with a "hook." DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 20, 2003
resiny and grapefruit touches in the aroma...dark yellow color..semi-balanced with a big bitter end..lets not forget the slightly acidicness and chewy hop bud flavors...not too bad.
