Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a cola glow at the bottom and a rich, thick, eight centimetre tall (HUGE) head, about right as a brown colour. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, raisins, nuts, earth and a bit of cherries and lactic scents. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavour with a ton of cherries, milk, earth, anise, raisins and pit fruits, with a good complex finish. Aftertaste shows a proper blend of oatmeal depth, roasty malt, earthy hops and a good sweetness. Overall, a nice oatmeal stout with some good complex flavours, a nice finish that shows good depth and a still light enough beer to not be bogged down after a few sips - still too much carbonation though, and the size would be better in twelve ounce bottles. That said, the price was right! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 03-February-2012 for US$3.89 sampled at home in Washington on 16-April-2012. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 14, 2012

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle courtesy of JohnCoctosin. Pours a dark black with a thick beige head that took a long time to die down. Aroma of choclate, and roasted malt. Flavors of choclate, roasted malt and coffee. A good oatmeal stout. hayduke (5218) - Eureka, California, USA - OCT 1, 2009
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2012 From a 22 oz bottle purchased at the Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, this poured a very opaque black with a fat tan head and very robust lacing in the glass. The nose greets you with aromas of burnt malts with some chocolate and just a tiny bit of coffee. Medium body and mouthfeel and quite smooth. Flavor is more chocolate than anything with a hint of smoke. Dry bitter finish. A very nice sweet stout that is eminently drinkable.
This a 2012 update. This one was a bit of a gusher but as before was very tasty. No change in score but just as good as the first time.

Bottle courtesy of JohnCoctosin. Served in a Mikasa tulip.
Pours near black with a single-finger tan head. Good retention and some spotty lacing. Thin cap throughout. The nose brings forward some good roast and chocolate, tending toward the roast. The flavor is quite roasty with some espresso and chocolate behind. Mouthfeel takes a turn for the worse, as it’s a bit thin and really harsh with an acrid roast character that is quite dry. Hurts the flavor as well. Okay, though I wouldn’t seek this out again.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2010 Draft - it was easily the best beer in a bar with 20 macro taps. Not too shabby. Nice dark brown appearance with a frothy light tan head and lacing. Coffee and cocoa on the aroma - really heavy on the coffee especially. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, bitter cocoa, and some burnt notes. The burnt flavors made it seem a little amateur on the finish, like a homebrew. The palate has coffee graininess and is a little rough, with medium body and low carbonation. A solid brew overall. Nice and flavorful. DedicatedToFun (4000) - Santa Monica, California, USA - AUG 17, 2013

22 ounce bottle purchased at Cost Plus World Market in Davis, CA. Aroma has some burnt roastiness with hints of sweet sugar and anise. Pretty interesting aroma. Mostly opaque dark brown body with a large, dark tan head that leaves some nice lacing. Starts with a little coffee flavoring with a touch of sweetness. Pretty carbonated. Finishes with a burnt, roasted, bitter chalky flavor and mouthfeel. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - MAR 1, 2010
From a bottle. Poured an attractive dark brown/black with a medium-sized and persistent light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, yeast, must, sweetness, cocoa and caramel. Flavor was pretty complex and assertive, if not great tasting for me. Very roasted and earthy, with some caramel, cocoa and fruity notes at times. Earthy finish. Not overly sweet, actually not more than an average sweetness. Gets better with time, which is always a nice feature. Overall it was quite solid and enjoyable.
