Thanks to illidurit for the bottle! Dark brown pour thin beige head and minimal spotty lace. Dark chocolate and ashy aroma. Roasted flavor with bittersweet chocolate, lactose, and coffee rayOfBeer (680) - El Cerrito, California, USA - JUN 13, 2009
Poured from bottle a dark brown with large tan head. Aroma is mostly chocolate with some soft grain tones. Flavor starts smooth with some slightly sweet malt, chocolate and a light graininess. The finish becomes dry with a roasted grain bitterness. Palate is silky at the beginning and slightly sweet moving toward bitter and dry, but not a big mouthfeel however. Overall, an easy drinking stout with a nice balance that could do with a little more presence on the palate. Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Bomber from Market of Choice. Pours a dark ass black with a thick, bubbly tan head. Aroma is redolent with chocolate and some roastiness. Flavor is also hefty chocolate, light roast and some mild coffee. Palate is very thin, but that’s relatively typical for the style. Solid offering, no regrets here. troopie (2497) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - SEP 14, 2009
Bottle. Poured black with thick foamy beige head. Medium roast and oatmeal aroma..Medium flavour, roast malt, oatmeal, a little chocolate, a little coffee. Sweetish malty finish alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - MAR 1, 2010
From a bottle. Poured an attractive dark brown/black with a medium-sized and persistent light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, yeast, must, sweetness, cocoa and caramel. Flavor was pretty complex and assertive, if not great tasting for me. Very roasted and earthy, with some caramel, cocoa and fruity notes at times. Earthy finish. Not overly sweet, actually not more than an average sweetness. Gets better with time, which is always a nice feature. Overall it was quite solid and enjoyable.

29-Dec-10 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 26-Aug-10 for $4.49 at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop in Carlsbad, CA) Dark Night indeed pours dark as a night in the wilderness, but sans the bright full moon on the bottle’s label. The light-brown head explodes to over two inches in height and takes many minutes to settle to a quarter inch, leaving thick rings and patches of foam on the glass in the process. The malts themselves are balanced: moderately roasty and a bit ashy with gentle bitterness, but moderately sweet as well. Flavors of dark chocolate/cacao, ashtray, licorice, blackstrap molasses, black coffee, oatmeal, earth, dark stone fruit, and apple skin. Roasty and chocolaty aroma with a fair bit of weedy leafiness and apple skin. Full bodied on the palate with slightly expansive and prickly carbonation in the mouth and a reasonably dry finish for a medium-sweet beer. Overall, a balanced, full-flavored stout with appropriate weight and solid drinkability, but the overall flavor profile doesn’t quite reach the style’s upper echelon. Bottle courtesy of ygtmsm94, thanks! Dark maroon color, massive tan head. Aroma of salty cocoa. Taste is similar, plus coffee. Not bad. jgb9348 (6588) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - APR 16, 2012
Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a cola glow at the bottom and a rich, thick, eight centimetre tall (HUGE) head, about right as a brown colour. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, raisins, nuts, earth and a bit of cherries and lactic scents. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavour with a ton of cherries, milk, earth, anise, raisins and pit fruits, with a good complex finish. Aftertaste shows a proper blend of oatmeal depth, roasty malt, earthy hops and a good sweetness. Overall, a nice oatmeal stout with some good complex flavours, a nice finish that shows good depth and a still light enough beer to not be bogged down after a few sips - still too much carbonation though, and the size would be better in twelve ounce bottles. That said, the price was right! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 03-February-2012 for US$3.89 sampled at home in Washington on 16-April-2012. skmikeg (1826) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 22, 2012
Pours a dark black-brown with a huge five finger foamy tan head which fades very slowly to crazy lacing. Aroma is light for a stout and is of roasted malts, some coco powder, faint coffee notes, maybe some anise, and a faint metallic note. Taste is slightly better then the aroma and is of roasted malts, chocolate, dark coffee, some anise, some dark fruits, a little mild hop bitterness. Has a medium body with a slightly thin, watery, fizzy mouthfeel, and a slightly bitter, short, slightly metallic finish. Overall, a decent oatmeal stout that is lacking in body and could be better without the metallic notes in the aroma and finish. jtclockwork (17654) - , New Jersey, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle. Black with off white head. Nose and taste of flaked oats, roasted chocolate malt, chocolate milk and roast coffee. Nice roasted finish. Medium body.
