2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle to glass. This is not so bad. Heavy malt aroma with slight paper and a little butter. Clear deep-orange with full off-white head. Malty with slight bitterness and a harsh bite at the end. Slightly oxidize taste as well.
July 25th, 2014 - Next up in the queue for Santa Cruz Mountain’s taster flight is the amber ale, predictably dark, and foggy, though that may be an artifact of the serving glass. The aroma is on the sweeter side, directly expressing lots of caramel notes, but I detect some toffee and bubble gum as well. The flavor is sweet, too, but with pomegranate at the front. But then that pomegranate disappears, turning into a generic malty profile, which then fades entirely in a short aftertaste. slowrunner77 (12051) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 29, 2014
"another lackluster effort from SC...nothing wrong with this one save for a thin feel and lack of imagination :) nutty caramel malt and touch of hops, not much more." bytemesis (8438) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - APR 27, 2014
Tap. Pours clear amber, small off white head, some lacing. Aroma is light caramel. Flavor is medium sweet, caramel, a bit of paint thinner, some astringence, green apple. Light body, meh. AdamChandler (5052) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 23, 2014
No nose. Banana Esther’s and malty sweetness. Close to a Scotch ale. Nice mouthfeel. But not mind blowing. Could drink a growler of it though brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 2, 2013
On tap @ Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. Amber pour with a white head. Bread, toast, and a bit of grape on the nose. Some grassy hops. Kind of bland. Flavor is a touch bitter and some sweet bread, toast, and grape. Fair amount of grass hops and a hint of earth.

Tap. Hazy amber color with ivory head. Spicy toasted caramel, nutty aromas. medium body, average carbonation. Lightly sweet caramel, nutty, toast flavors----decent. monk191 (1980) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 17, 2012
A not-so-bad amber. Pours a nice orange-red color with not much was. Not much smell, slightly nutty, maybe some caramel. Taste is very creamy and nutty. Had on tap at the brewery

Draft at brewhouse. Pours amber, light head. Sweet malt, sweet malt, sweet malt. Not my pint o’beer. Ungstrup (37655) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - NOV 21, 2010
Draft. A light amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt combined with lighter notes of caramel and butter. The flavor is sweet with notes of butter and straw, leading to a dry buttery finish. I wonder if it is a brewing flaw or a dirty draft line that the butter stems from.
