This Black IPA transcends style. The idea is simple, but the flavor is complex. It is everything you want in a great IPA, but with a little bit of chocolate. The crisp, dry punch of hops leaves you wondering how this beer has such a balanced flavor. The secret is Midnight Wheat. Aromas of passion fruit, citrus, and pine cut their way through the dark malts to both titillate and challenge the senses. The dry finish and dark ebony color are distinctive characteristics for this winter seasonal and make for a smooth and approachable beer for the masses.

Chocolate brown in color with a slight off-white head. Chocolate sweet, then roasty with some piney, dry hop character. Roasted aroma. A solid BIPA.

12 oz. can. Pour was dark brown/black, off white head. Aroma was roasted malt, roasted coffee, pine. Taste was mild bitter, coffee, toasted malts, citrus.

Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAY 16, 2017
Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a black color with an off white foamy head that dissipated at a mild pace. Light stringy lace. The aroma had some grapefruit pith, roasted dark malts, subtle coffee beans, dark chocolate, driftwood, earthy hops, and a light dose of piney/resin bitter hops. The flavor mildly blended the prior noted aromas fairly nice. Long yet sharp and roasty aftertaste. Sly roasty finish. The palate was medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, pretty nice black IPA that I could come back to if I could get it. Thanks Jason!

355ml can at home on 18 Mar 2017, from Drygate Bottle Shop, Glasgow, chocolate, toffee, pine, grapefruit aromas, near black with a lasting bubbly beige head, flavour as aroma, viscous, nicely balanced, long hoppy aftertaste.

Mild ipa where the chocolate mellows the hops! Pours nearly black w/ a foamy tan head & spotty lacing. The aroma is robust w/ hops & dark malt. The body is similar to a milk stout - creamy & almost soft w/ roasted malt notes. The hop presence is light & finishes a tad bitter. Alcohol is well hidden. Solid!

Jet black, great thick head. slightly sweet aroma. flavor combines chocolate, caramel, with a slight bitterness. Incredibly balanced and easily one of my favorites. A great beer in a modest package. Love it.
