COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the kind of beer that gives the word "stout" a reputation. Extra generous quantities of barley malt, followed by vigorous fermentation leaves this "imperial" heavy weight with 8% alcohol A.B.V. and a body as full as chocolate bread pudding. A complimentary and complex array of bitter notes comes form potent American hops, earthy British hops, black-roasted malts and, of course, coffee. Santa Fe Brewing Company uses only top-quality ingredients like organically grown East Timor coffee beans blended with New Guinea coffee beans, locally roasted by Ohoris Coffee House. Its heavenly flavor and aroma cant be beat or imitated.

On tap at Hops & Pie. Pour is pitch black with a medium tan head and great lacing. Big coffee, espresso, roasted malt, cocoa nibs, somewhat earthy, vanilla, light grass, and bready aroma. Taste is big roasted coffee, earthy, Sumatra, light caramel, brown sugar, toffee, a touch of green peppers - thought not overwhelming - chocolate, and grass with a light bitter finish. Sticky mouthfeel with low carbonation. Damn decent stout and my wife seemed to really like this one.

Pours black with a touch of ruby. Clean straight forward coffee aroma. Very nice coffee flavor followed by a dryness on the palate. Overall, very lovely. A strong assertive coffee flavored brew. Thanks to BarZigKin for his generosity...

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2015 Delicious Imperial coffee stout in a can? Now this is something I can get behind. Thanks, gregwilsonstl. Poured into a nonic pint glass, an opaque black colour, reddish at the edges when held to the light, with thick, creamy orange-ish beige foam, long-lasting with lace. Beautiful appearance. Aromas of coffee, burnt grains, bread, toast, fruity esters, not much hops, but thats true-ti-style. Flavour was tart, fruity again, very slight sourness, very caramelly, less coffee than in the aroma, not terribly roasty, nicely balanced bittersweetness. Overall, quite creamy, smooth, rounded mouthfeel, medium body and carbonation, pleasant aftertaste. Great stuff, for sure.

Can: Very dark brown pour yielding a finger of creamy tan head. Strong aroma of fresh coffee and cocoa... some semblance of Kahlua... lovin it! Lots of coffee in the flavor, really more of a high-quality medium roast than dark espresso. A little hop bitterness along for the ride. I wish more of the aroma would have translated to the taste, but this is still very refreshing (I still love this style) and overall very well done.

Pours a deep black with a medium creamy/bubbly tan head. Aroma of coffee, milk chocolate and vanilla. Flavor of vanilla, roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate.

12 oz Can. Like the Happy Camper IPA, this is wonderfully flavorful. I love the wonderful rich full bodied coffee flavor. The stout provides the perfect platform for the richness and complexities of a good cup of coffee. If you start the day off with a cup of coffee this is a perfect way to start your evening.

From can. Dark black. Beautiful thick tan head. Mild. Tastes like an iced coffee. Nice plain packaging. Unexpected subtle hot pepper aftertaste.

Poured from a 12 ounce can. Dark viscous brown with a thin, beige head of foam. Aroma has coffee and some lactic notes. Sort of weird. Taste is roasty with some mild bitterness kicking in from the coffee. Thick mouthfeel. The lactic notes in the nose thankfully dont translate to the taste.

Extremely dark in the glass considering alc ercentage following dark iced tea pour, nice full green coffee beans, clean carbonated body for the style, nice smooth lively mouth and after. A beer truly great for breakfast. Its no beer geek, but its a great bfast stout, especially for the price. Non frigged cans are likely to have significant aluminum overtones. Id stick to frigged sixers from Santa Fe
