RATINGS: 375   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.76/5   SEASONAL: Winter   EST. CALORIES: 240   ABV: 8%
This is the kind of beer that gives the word "stout" a reputation. Extra generous quantities of barley malt, followed by vigorous fermentation leaves this "imperial" heavy weight with 8% alcohol A.B.V. and a body as full as chocolate bread pudding. A complimentary and complex array of bitter notes comes form potent American hops, earthy British hops, black-roasted malts and, of course, coffee. Santa Fe Brewing Company uses only top-quality ingredients like organically grown East Timor coffee beans blended with New Guinea coffee beans, locally roasted by O’hori’s Coffee House. Its heavenly flavor and aroma can’t be beat or imitated.

Coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, and caramel in the aroma. It is delicious. The taste is a bit underwhelming, as it doesn’t deliver all the promises the nose makes. It is correctly bitter and not as sweet or strong in coffee favors as I had expected. The palate is more medium than thick and carbonation is adequate. If only everything else were as good as the aroma...

It has good flavor but I just can't get into "Imperial" beers, whether it's the alcohol percentage I'm not sure but it's not a favorite ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a tasty beer, if you like coffee. It's pretty rich so you can only have a few. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. can pours an opaque black with decent beige head that persists and leaves good lacing. Aroma has coffee, roasted malts, molasses, licorice, and cocoa. Taste is bitter with a long finish. Body is full with just enough carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. This is a substantial stout that I’d love to find again.

Can. Huge off white ever lasting head. Pitch black color. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, grain, pine, grape. Full body with a thick texture. Moderated sweet with good counter bitterness. Lingering roasted bitter malt finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A secret winner. Very well priced, an extremely good stout in the 8% range. It never lets down.

12floz can, no freshness date present, paid about $1.50, and poured into a pint glass. Deep, dark brown in color with a retentive light brown head. Decent roasted malt aroma, which carries over to full-bodied palate of semi-sweet chocolate and coffee flavors. Good stout.

One of the best smelling beers I've ever laid my nostrils to. Not a fan of coffee, definitely taste the java, yet still amazing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2017 A deep dark imperial stout with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light pepper notes, light coffee grind, musty character, nice and smooth. In mouth, a sweet mocha chocolate malt with light vanilla, light powdery character, silky mouth feel, light milk character, coffee grind, alcohol warmth, very nice. Can, about 3 years old.

On tap at Tap & Bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out subdued coffee and medium roasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with subdued coffee and medium roasted malt. Surprisingly restrained for an impie. Pleasant but lacking oomph.

Can. Dark brown pour, with a shortly lived tan head. Lots of coffee, espresso, chocolate, and caramel. Nice, tasty coffee beer, but not too complex.
