COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the kind of beer that gives the word "stout" a reputation. Extra generous quantities of barley malt, followed by vigorous fermentation leaves this "imperial" heavy weight with 8% alcohol A.B.V. and a body as full as chocolate bread pudding. A complimentary and complex array of bitter notes comes form potent American hops, earthy British hops, black-roasted malts and, of course, coffee. Santa Fe Brewing Company uses only top-quality ingredients like organically grown East Timor coffee beans blended with New Guinea coffee beans, locally roasted by Ohoris Coffee House. Its heavenly flavor and aroma cant be beat or imitated.

Can. The pour was an espresso jet black with an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting and produced some excellent sheeting on the glass. The aroma was extremely strong of a fresh ground French Roasted coffee, a burnt black bread malt and an earthy doughy yeast with notes of bakers chocolate and a hint of toffee and black licorice. The taste was lightly sweet and quite malty with notes of chocolate and toffee early on and then progressed into a strong bitter coffee flavor with a mild alcohol finish. The flavor lasted an average time after the swallow, and had a nice espresso taste that was left to linger. Mouthfeel was bold and full in body with a dry, oily texture and a mild carbonation. Overall this brew is very well balanced and quite tasty. It could very well be put into an espresso cup, and would be enjoyed immensely.

On tap at Tap & Bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out subdued coffee and medium roasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with subdued coffee and medium roasted malt. Surprisingly restrained for an impie. Pleasant but lacking oomph.

Can. Dark brown pour, with a shortly lived tan head. Lots of coffee, espresso, chocolate, and caramel. Nice, tasty coffee beer, but not too complex.

The coffee in this beer is very pronounced. The roast is too strong for me. Appropriate thickness just too much coffee for my taste.

Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours from the12 oz can dark brown with a tan head and gorgeous lacing. Nose of coffee and lactose. Full body. Flavor shows some burnt chocolate malt with lactose, but coffee still dominates. Finishes with a lot of the coffee and chocolate and just a hint of bitterness. This is a nice drinking beer.

Aroma: lots of dry classic stout notes; not much coffee but a little rubbery; Appearance: pitch black with fluffy tan head; some lacing; Taste: follows nose; still not much coffee; slightly watery; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet/dry finish; Overall: okay but nothing special.

Leightons flat clearance. Thanks to Mr Smith. Can. Clear amber brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and soft and has modest fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a little dark chocolate. Modest coffee. Light creamy malt sweetness underneath. Smooth semi dry finish. Decent.
