The name says it all. Very good Barley Wine. New Mexico had a very good micro brew scene and Santa Fe is a driving force. Love this Beer. Tasted at the brewery tasting room. Cool place!

Pours cloudy, murky brown with a small light beige ring of fizz. Smells strongly of bourbon, bold malts, hints of hops. Taste is bourbon, sweet malt, hints of bitterness, and subtle tartness. Full-bodied with a a slick texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Santa Fe Kickin Chicken finishes with a slightly tart oakiness. barley32 (3) - - NOV 13, 2013 does not count
Great beer! Definitely a nice sour taste. Kinda numbs the palate a bit. Overall warming finish. Im going to age my other one for a few years. I like the sourness and worth the 12 bucks! Bourban comes out my nostrils after each sip...love it! wavers1 (916) - Notown, California, USA - OCT 29, 2010
bottle courtesy of a great new mexico trader, thanks a ton! gold waxed bottle with foil label. not sure of numbers, supposed to be a fairly small release i believe. i’ve been waiting nearly a decade for a true bbbw on a production scale, so i am very excited! Pours a nice slightly murky amber that is much darker once the glass is full, virtually opaque. nice frothy, ample, orangish head leaves nice lacing. the aroma is sweet and oaky right away, has alayer that reminds me of things like schlafly bbbw and backwoods. the flavor is nice, and im sure i like it more than i should being a homer. very deep and dense, earthy, heavy flavor. tons of wood coming through, but only a moderate amount of bourbon, very well balanced. lots of sweet vanilla, butterscotch, a mild hop bitterness right now, will probably be gone within a year at most. glad they waited to do this properly, this barrel aging on this beer is very nice and a definite upgrade imo. good stuff, worth looking for. Thanks Daniel! .. . i love the regular chicken killer so this was a treat! .. Pours a dark golden syrup, good foam, light sticky lacing .. . great dose of bourbon with a fantastic caramel oakiness .. . this is quality, a barreled chicken .. . Why don’t people smile more? A recent survey shows that 80% of Americans never ever smile. These people need to go to jail. In the happy 20% though are my two special cats, Chew Chew Bonewagon and Mit Mit St. Claire, whuttup guys!!

From my NM friend Gabriel! Reddish/brown pour with a nice white head. Caramel, bourbon, honey, oak, fresh cane syrup aroma. Flavor is a wonderful liquid caramel aroma with bourbon, toffee, tiny bitterness at the end. Awesome. hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 21, 2011
bottle at dak’s 1/2/11.
hazy. maple-y honey color with no real lasting head.
it smells like coppertone!... lots of green spicy wood, bourbon, umami, cumin, brown sugar, green peppers and vanilla-y coco-nuttiness.
the flavor is quite savory and picks up some white chocolate business along with all the stuff from the aroma. there is a mald bitterness on the finish which helps clean up after the medium body. nice. 8.5/3/8/4/17 smaynard6000 (1242) - Apopka, Florida, USA - JAN 10, 2013
22oz bottle. Pours a murky dark reddish color with small tan head. Interesting aroma, bit of hoppiness and some other notes I can’t place. Bit of sourness in the flavor along with some sweet maltiness and bourbon flavor. Very nice barley wine. BMan1113VR (7929) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 17, 2011
Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazed brown body with a tan head that slowly fades. Aroma of bourbon, fusel, ethanol, toasted coconut, alcohol, pine and peppery. Flavors of raisins, brown sugar, alcohol, bourbon, very dry, splinters. Some carbonation. Thick and tasty. Tannic, fresh, spicy oak. Shockingly good! phaleslu (10665) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 11, 2011
22 oz. bottle brought straight from the source by stevemastny- thanks, Steve! Pours a murky, muddy raisin-brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, plums, raisins, brown sugar, oak, and caramel. Flavor of bourbon, oak, raisins, figs, plums, caramel, brown sugar, earth, and molasses. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a sweet, sticky, boozy mouthfeel. Really nice bourbon barrel barleywine that my fiancee and I enjoyed a lot. Thanks again, Mastnys!
