2890 of 3708 20th Anniversary Bottle. Courtesy Nate. Pours black with fizzy, rimming brown head. Roasty and chocolatey nose, cherry and fig. Sweet caramel with chocolate, mild astringency and lots of hop bitterness, some roast. Crisp finish. Pretty solid. Nate (4296) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 26, 2013
From bottle #2890, courtesy of Mike R. Ruddy chocolate malt, dusty grist and light stale coffee grounds. Alcohol vapors, malted milk, and Twizzlers. Black opaque with thin tan lacing head. Medium-heavy body with medium-high carbonation and alcoholic warming. Starts sweet and smooth, lightly smoky, with tons of rich malt and Twizzlers. Mellow with light nutty bitterness. No off flavors or oxidation notes - has held up well. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - DEC 23, 2012

The pour is dark brown in color with an off-white head. A strong roasted malt aroma along with a nice bit of dark chocolate. There’s some sweet dark fruit aroma and a hint of wood and bourbon. The flavor isn’t quite as good as the aroma, but still enjoyable. Mild to moderate barrel character with roasted malt, dark chocolate, and dark fruits. A touch of vanilla and molasses type sweetness, too. Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 9, 2012
750mL bottle, #749 of 3708. Poured mahogany with a tall, creamy medium brown head. The aroma picked up burnt black patent malts, light smoke, and licorice, accented by some broken down hops and essence of spruce.. great, despite seeming past its prime. The flavor opened with lightly-sour smoked malts, with toasted chocolates, biscuity notes, and licorice behind.. peppery alcohol and earthy notes on the long, dry-roasted, tasty finish. Medium-plus bodied with just the right amount of carbonation to keep it moving.. great balance, and I’d love to drink it again (please make more!). Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 13, 2012
Big thanks to Drew for sharing this bottle at last night’s tasting. Served in a SAVOR wine glass.
Pours near black with a small tan head and some sparse lacing on the way down. The nose brings some heavy chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor has that nice chocolate presence as well, with a bit more balance between that and the backing malt. Medium body with a bit boozy with average carbonation. Worth a try. The aroma is a bit leathery but nice. The beer pours dark chestnut brown with a nice tan head. The flavor starts out creamy and light roasty like a porter, sweet notes for sure. The body starts to thin out as it gets warmer, with light booze notes.
