Bottle #2484. Nearly opaque brown-black with a small dark brown head. Roasty aromatics with tinges of chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Sharp acidic roastiness up front, some alcohol notes. Bittersweet chocolate and mocha flavors manifest. Coffe bean, caramel, and alcohol dominate the finish, with a faint chalky chocolate component. Mouthfeel is heavy, somewhat hot. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, caramel, roasted grain), with notes of vanilla, alcohol, light note of smoke.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
A bit on the simple/straightforward side, but still fairly luxurious and enjoyable. Reasonably well-hidden alcohol and a nice mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff.
