COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This yellow ale is a refreshing favorite often served with a lemon or orange slice. Wheat yeast gives a HefeWeizen it’s unmistakable Banana/Clove character which also pairs remarkably well with many different foods. 13°

12 oz can from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours cloudy straw color with white head. Aromas of bananas, clove and bubble gum. Similar flavors with a bit of lemon. Slightly watery. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Thanks Craig.

Can. Moderate straw for the malt, dried grass for the hops, light mustiness for the yeast, with banana and vinegar in the background. The fizzy head quickly diminishes and leaves behind what looks like a pint of unfiltered apple juice. Flavor is faintly sweet and moderately acidic to start then finishes lightly acidic and faintly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. It has some nice German Hefeweizen qualities, just nothing really to bowl you over, but I could definitely have a few more of these

Not bad. Poured with a decent, off white head that settles down to a light cover and a little lace. Color is a hazy, dirty amber. Aroma is a weaker version of the real Bavarian Hefeweizens. Flavor is like aroma, with a very strong grain component. Body is good and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and of short to medium length. Ok for a local brew and if it’s competitively priced.

12 oz can from cbkschubert. Cloudy yellow with a medium pale yellow head. Nose is light banana, light clovey spiciness, yeast, wheat, and a light hint of an off odor in the background. Flavor is banana and grainy wheat with a slight vegetal background note.

12 oz. can as an extra poured a straw golden in color with a one finger white head that faded fast. aroma has hefe yeast, light banana, wheat, and some light hops. a bit light on the nose. mouth feel is nice for the style and there is plenty of carbonation. flavor has gritty wheat, earthy side banana yeast, pokes of hop bitterness, and some spice. overall the texture and carbonation are good but the flavor and aroma did not wow me.

Draft at Whole Foods Chandler. Hazy golden color, white head. Not much aroma, taste is very subtle as well, maybe a bit of orange peel. Nothing to this one.

12 oz. can from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy golden color with a two finger thick white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is esters and spice. Nothing out of place so far. Flavor is sweet esters and spice. It does have a hint of metal in the finish. Medium body. A decent Hefe.

Pours deep gold with white head and some lacing. Notes of wheat and banana. Well balanced taste that is smooth and sessionable.

A vigorous pour from the can into my 25cl tulip glass produces a four finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a nice gold hue that shows a lightly hazed, bright gold color when held up to the light. Spicy clove notes are noticeable as soon as I pop the tab and this is backed by a nice grainy character that reminds me a bit of dried grassy and barley husks. The nose has a light tartness to it and the clove accentuates a sweet fruitiness that is a bit like green apple or perhaps some sort of melon, but the fruit is definitely secondary to the clove. Soft banana like notes struggle to be noticed underneath the clove and there seems to be a touch of a tin like note to the nose at times.

Dry up front as it first hits my palate, but as it rolls across the tongue it picks up a perceived sweetness from an ample clove character. The finish has a touch of tartness and wheat character, but really it is the clove like phenols that seem to stick to the palate. Fairly light and refreshing, but this does have some body and texture to it; it is not as creamy as the best versions of the style, but neither is this too thin. Having said that, the texture seems simplistic somehow, though I really think it is the bland malt character that this is really attributable too. This has a bit too much of a green apple flavor to it and this seems to accentuate a touch of something that reminds me of a macro lager.

This is not horrible as this is a serviceable HefeWeizen. It just doesn’t really integrate all together and it is missing much of the complexity and richness that is needed in a good example of the style.
