COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SanTan’s annual Winter Warmer ale is based on a traditional English Old Ale recipe and then spiced with 10 lbs of fresh ginger from our local market. Generous amounts of caramel and roasted malts are added to give Winter Warmer a deep ruby brown hue. The malt is backed by 10 gallons of Arizona orange blossom honey that lends a slightly sweet taste to the big malt flavor with a sting of ginger. Winter Warmer weighs in at 9% ABV and will keep Jack Frost from nipping at your nose! 20.5°

Can. Dark reddish brown pour, with a small tan head. Sweet malts, caramel, toffee, cardboard, herbal bitterness, and a bit spicy. Not that good, but pretty good for santan.

Despite the honey (and little pictures of gingerbread men on the can) this isn’t sweet enough to entice thoughts of cookies. Not that lack of sweetness is a problem. Ginger bite in the finish is reminiscent of bitter hops’ effect without tasting at all similar.

On draft - 2013. Dark brown with off white one finger head. Cinnamon and other spices on the aroma. Taste is similar, not as strong as expected.

Can.Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a high, solid, mixed-grain, tan head. Nose is ginger, dark fruit, tawny port, orange, and rose. Rich and boozy on the tongue, with sticky toffee and caramel predominant; the ginger really kicks in on the back of the mouth and the finish. Not overly sweet despite the toffee and caramel notes. Finish is really warm and long, with spicy notes. Great mouthfeel -- syrupy rich. Enjoyable.

Interesting. Fairly sweet. Very very herbal, probably too much for my liking. Different, but fairly good.
