COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bourbon barrel aged Flanders syle red.

Great friends, aged beer, bourbon barrels and Lingering Spirits; these are the components of our collaboration with Jackie O’s. Brewed in early 2015, this Flanders style red ale incorporates barley, spelt, wheat, rye and oats into a hauntingly unique take on the style. While complex in liquid form, Lingering Spirits is most indebted to the character of bourbon barrels that previously held Jackie O’s masterful "Dark Apparition." The result is scary-good, something that we hope you will share with the Lingering Spirits in your life. Sante!

Bottle shared by Levi, thanks! Pours a hazy amber brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy tart fruits with a bit of bread and some oak underlying. Flavor has sour red fruits with a bit of dryness, a decent amount of funk with a bit of grains and oak supporting.

Dark amber pour, slightly cloudy. Yeasty funky fruit nose with light booze and barrel. I prefer a non-BA (especially Sante's) sour red to this, but it's cool.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is fairly fruity with cherry, raisin, cassis and prune notes. Light toasted bread, dark caramel, toffee and nuts with hints of chocolate and roast. Faint bourbon and oak notes. Pours dark brown with some auburn hues and a medium large, thick, tan head that shows good retention as it slowly recedes to a thin film that lingers. Light lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with moderate acidity. Lots of cherry, raisin, cassis and prune notes. Some caramel, toffee, toasted bread and nuts with hints of chocolate. Light bourbon and faint oak notes. Light bitterness and a hint of alcohol spice. Mouthfeel so medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice Flanders style sour. These aren't my favorite beers but this one has some nice complexity and the acidity isn't too acetic. It has an interesting twang to it from the reused barrels.

750 ml bottle shared at a tasting. Its like an overly oxygenated sour. Tastes like vinegar strong ale. Lots of strong, stick dark malts and sharp vinegar breaking through.

750ml bottle pours a garnet amber with a ring of off white head. Nose has apples and apple cider, some unripened stone fruits, a little sun tea, some stale red wine. Flavor is tart, apple cider vinegar, black tea, pomegranate, tomato. Finishes tart and oily. Well done.
