Had my first 831 in the Capitola, Calif. tasting room in Nov 2013. I went back the next day for another. I am now officially chasing the dragon, looking forward to my next trip up to Santa Cruz so I can haz moar. mrhoppy (1288) - Santa Clara, California, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Tap half pour $3 super delicious IPAis awful golden color that has a honey translucent appearance. This is good stuff. The boquet is a hop heads dream. The freshness of the beers that they produce is amazing. Flavor is big big hops and bitterness that sticks to the tongue. Awesome chewy grain in the flavor. Fabulous. taylorfit (2) - Santa Cruz, - AUG 28, 2013 does not count
Cloudy appearance with a full hop flavor. Finishes sour and very refreshing.
Tim and crew are killing it. Hopped_Silly (418) - California, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Hazy, dark yellow.. Saison looking.. Fresh, fresh, fresh.. Herbaceous, piney, citrus rind, and tangerine dominated aromas and flavors.. Delicate honeyed malt counterbalance rounding out mid-palate and finish, though unabashedly fresh hop dominated. Love the fresh hop layers!! West Coast style all the way! Blind Pig lookout!!!

Poured up on tap at SARA, in the company of many great ratebeerians visiting for RBWG16, where it exhibits a nice hop hazy glowing copper body that supports an off white head of foam. The aroma offers up an inviting blend of grapefruit, tangerine and pine hops. The taste is lovely as I get bitter pine heading quickly into spicy bitter dank onion notes to midway just as it gets juicy with ripe clementine and bitter juicy grapefruit. Wow! Solid IPA. If I had the time and money I might be able to drink myself into a beer coma with this stuff. It’s coma good ™. 831 the newish area code. Cool.

Tap. Pours hazy golden amber with a small white head, bubbly. Dissipated quickly with some lacing. Very nice aroma, grapefruit, tropical fruit, pine, touchof cat piss. Flavor is about the same, light sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, oily tongue coating mouthfeel. Very nice. PhillyCraft (7237) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 27, 2014
At the source, pours glowing murky orange with thin clear bubbled white head. Aromas and flavor are skunk, orange peel, pine, and dank hops. Super dry and bitter in the finish with a coating of orange resin left on the tongue. RRistow12 (872) - Lewis Center, Ohio, USA - JUL 26, 2016
Tasted from draft. Pours a murky orange with white head. Aroma is dank resin, pine and some floral notes. Taste is a nice moderate bitterness throughout. I get a little citrus but not much. Mostly resin and pine with some floral flavors with the caramel malt backbone. Very well done.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2013 On tap at the grand opening. Clear orange gold. Lemony grapefruit aroma, weed, acidic citrus. Malt is subdued, no sweetness to it. Perfect for an IPA. Citric hoppy without a whole lot of bitterness. Nice IPA.
Re-rate 9/4/13 from fresh growler: Pours a chill-hazed bronze orange with a thick eggshell head. Aroma has a lot of classic grapefruit character but also a lemon verbena tinge and some mild florals. Oily dank hops coat the palate, giving a refreshing illusion of acidity. Unripe grapefruit gives this resin bomb some fruitiness. The bitterness synergizes with the oily character of the hops, creating a round finish that maintains a lot of bite. As for the malt, it’s there -- but only to prop up the body. It really doesn’t impact the flavor very much at all, maybe a slight sourdough breadiness, but certainly no godawful heavy caramel or crystal influence. Palate-wise, I’ve had many beers with similar hop profiles that turn astringent with warmth, or that turn soapy once your tastes buds get acclimated to the hop oils. That’s not the case here. Even on pint 3, the beer remains fresh on the tongue without any off-notes.
My old rating is from Batch 1; I figure this deserved a new look -- glad I did. Bumped from 3.8 to 4.2. Cheers Tim! Bacterial (3000) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - OCT 10, 2014
On draft at the brewery taproom. Slightly hazy golden Amber pour with a white head. Big dank hoppy nose. Huge hoppy goodness here in the taste. Bitter finish, lots of citrus and tropical melons kungfu fighting.
