Bottle, at the brewery. Poured dark brown with a medium-dark, large tan head. Nose was fruity with hints of chocolate, taste was somewhat balanced with the fruit taking the lead. Not as boozy as expected, very drinkable with a nice long finish.

750 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 8/19/2013.
Black with a hint of transparency at the edges. Nice khaki head. Good retention.
Fruity, dark roast on the nose. Some chocolate. I’m not familiar with boysenberry, so I can’t specify the fruit aroma. Acidic aroma.
Tastes much more fruity. Roasty coffee. Dark chocolate. Bright tart fruits, but I still don’t know if it’s legitimate boysenberry. A bit chalky in the finish.
Tart more than sour. Flavorful, medium body, well carbonated.
Tough call on this one. The flavors all seem to be in perfect balance with each other, but I just don’t know if I want some of these flavors together.

Bottle Shared: Pours a very deep brown hue with a small tan and purple frothy head and spotty lace. Tart berries, chocolate, coffee, red wine skin, faint oak and char, and some earthy minerally elements come to play. The mouth feel is soft and a tad oily, moderate tannic dryness. All in all an enjoyable brew. BMan1113VR (7929) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUN 26, 2014

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2014 Bottle.... This beer rocks!… Dark brown pour with no head. The nose is a collage of brownies, fudge and boysenberries. Medium to full-bodied with pillow-soft carbonation. The flavor is certainly roasty but moreso sour, vinous and bursting-at-the-seams with an assortment of dark berries. Finishes crisp and tart. An interesting, world class effort provided by newcigarz! seth_lfod (329) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 15, 2014
Pours a black brown with a modest mocha head. Smell is tart, fruity, roast. Taste was intensely sour... Like sweet tarts sour. Sweeter than I expected. Very fruity. Not much chocolate or any other imperial stout characteristics, but still a solid beer.
