Sampled at the source on 15 Aug, 2014. Pale yellow color with aroma of mild Belgian yeast, lemons and mild pepper. The flavor is much the same with a nice hearty wheaty body. Notes of fruit and honey. Crisp and refreshing. Real solid overall. Pretty good.

On tap at brewery. Pours bright yellow gold wth medium white head. Yeast, apples, straw, grains, banana, clove, light hops, and spice are the main tasting notes for me. Well carbonated, pretty solid.

On tap at City Beer, pours a hazy pale golden with a medium creamy white head. Nose is like a traditional rustic farmhouse ale, with loads of rustic spicy notes and some moderate barnyard funk. Flavour isn’t as impressive as the nose, but this is still a high quality authentic saison, with very rustic notes, low funk, and Belgian yeast. Nice and dry, with a very rustic mouthfeel. Great stuff.

Bottle shared at Sean’s Tasting (Ann Arbor, MI). Pours a gentle hazed golden bright hue, touches of sunfire and frothy whitish head atop. Frothy layer stays ok sized, laces ok. Aromas present gentle tartness, bread, and straw. Mellow wheat, some yeastiness, touch of vanilla, citrus and mellow ester. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a touch of body in the middle. Bready, a touch toasty, straw. Some yeastiness, apple, some gentle tartness. Middle is a bit sweet, bready and doughy, touches of fruit and mellow earthy hops. Backend is a bit tart, vanilla, apple and subtle pear. Some citrus, yeast and straw. Mellow vanilla, almost a creaminess. Finish is a bit wheaty, fruity, vanilla and estery elements, touches of melon and straw, gumball and yeastiness. Not bad, a bit tart, a bit sweet at times for me.

Received as an extra from an awesome trading partner. Thanks Jonathan! A clear light orange in color with a with maybe a fingers worth of tight white head. Nose is traditional saison, strong Belgian yeast character, bready malt, and some faint green apple. A lot of similar themes as the nose, mainly focused on the Belgian yeast and bready malt. There isn’t much in terms tartness. Light mouthfeel, somewhat spritzy carbonation, dry, and a moderate finish. Nice saison, reminds me a lot of Prairie Standard actually. Would drink this regularly if this was in my area.
