I actually tend to lean towards Kiran Ichiban over Sapporo when it comes to traditional Japanese beers but this time I went "out on a limb" and tried the Sapporo again ... And once again it proved to disappoint compared to the Ichiban. The flavor of the Sapporo is just too "grainy" for my liking. This grainy nature adds an unsatisfying aftertaste to this beer that is simply absent from the Ichiban. melush (4486) - SPAIN - APR 4, 2014

Can from Seven Eleven. Not much going on in the nose- but of grass, corn, obvious malt. Tad gassy, but decent flavour. Not as much richness in the malt as rival macros, and nothing too groundbreaking, but palatable nonetheless.

Lata. Clear yellow, medium white bubbly head. Grain malt mineral aroma, lightly maltish. Ok mouthfeel. Flavour is mild like, grainish with mineral, light malt underneath.

Can at Kimi Ryokan, Ikebukuro. Clear yellow - white head. Bread, egg, candlewax, clean, minerals, light grainy, ok smooth, light dryness. Rather boring. KyotoLefty (10611) - Kyoto, JAPAN - DEC 5, 2012
Can. Grainy, malty nose with a touch of grass. Pale gold with a low, fine head. Malty flavor, grains, minerals, would not guess it was all malt, light citrus hop. Very bland. Somewhat dry finish. Not awful, but completely forgettable.

Can from Seven-Eleven. Grassy aroma with a bit of cardboard (?) Clear light straw. Hay and sweetness in initial; mid brings some hopping and a tinge of sourness; final remains sweet. Thin-medium body. Not really dry, as the labelling claims. Crisp. Sweet notes are dominant. A pretty regular all-malt. Okay. jonno (2884) - JAPAN - NOV 30, 2012
It’s a straight forward pale lager, but well made, easy drinking and not too heavily macro tasting. Very highly carbonated with a tight, foam head. Bland sulfur malt nose. Smooth action, light, refreshing malt body with a dry, soft hop finish. Could do a lot worse.
