0.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
This is the worst (unspoiled) beer I've ever encountered. It tastes like a non-alcoholic caramel drink (and even if it was called that instead of beer, it'd STILL be bad). It pours like thin diner coffee and sports a weak, quickly-disappearing head. Smells sickly sweet, thin and tinny, like watery molasses. I once tried 'waterchestnut drink' in Singapore, which qualifies as worse, but it wasn't trying to be beer. Horrible.
From an aluminum/bi-metal tall can: Appeared a dark leather brown colored liquid while a thick development of patchy foam retreated leaving behind some lacing. Aroma is faint but does have an apparent roast malt present. Flavor is more obvious of the dark roasting of the malts and is well balanced by the addition of hops. Good beer. Pour from a 22oz can. Clear dark reddish brown brew - like cola or rootbeer. Weak aroma of toasted malt, a little wet paper. taste is sweet lightly roasted malt up front with a light pleasant astringency; finishes toasty and slightly dry. Creamy soft palate makes this a joy to sip on. It's simple and restrained but super enjoyable. Dredd (975) - Bentleigh, AUSTRALIA - OCT 4, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2017 Jet black pour with thin head. Coffee notes in the aroma and a hint of vanilla. Slightly drying palate of coffee, some prune with a long finish that this out a bit. douglas88 (9721) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 27, 2017
22 ounce can for 3.50$ at Johns. Guess I never rated this. Anyway, pours a dark mahogany color with a large white head. A light malty sweet fruity nose. Toast, caramel, berries, fairly sweet. Quite nice. Simple. Clean. drowland (9175) - Georgia, USA - SEP 25, 2017
9/24/17. Big ass can like the one pictured there, from Five Points. Dark pour, basically black, with a big khaki to tan head. Light roasted malt aroma, a hint towards soy, but I don't mind it, caramel, nuttiness. Good flavor, roasted malts, coffee, a touch of ash, caramel, nutty. Actually not bad.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2017 Thick tan head on top of a dark brown body, nearly black. Floral and chocolate notes on smelling. There are coffee notes upon tasting also a note of floral hops. Clean finish and great on the palette. Drake (14110) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 3, 2017
Can from Rosemont Liquors. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast and caramel. The taste is raisin, roast, chocolate. Thin. A little weak, but a decent simple schwartz. tightslice (1450) - Redwood City, California, USA - JUL 28, 2017
Can from Safeway in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is roasted malts. Taste is roasted malt spritzer. Dry and sizzling. gripweed57 (2921) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - JUL 13, 2017
From old tasting notes. Nearly opaque reddish brown color with a huge creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with sour undertones. Roasted malt flavor has a fruity sour character upfront. A mild dryness pervades in the midtaste. Light dry aftertaste has a hint of licorice. Quite tasty and unique. superspak (6108) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JUN 28, 2017
22 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 8/8/2016. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious schwarzbier style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Nice well rounded and complex Munich/roasted malt profile; with just enough hops for balance. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
