DrnkMcDermott's rating

   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 5/20
DrnkMcDermott (3100) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - OCT 16, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2003 22 oz. can. Um, so this is “dry?” Really? There's a nice smell when you first flip the can tab, but it doesn't carry over into the taste. Less malt taste to come through, which makes me think of adjuncts. Sure enough, the taste is gone as soon as I swallow. I suppose it would go good with food, but so would an instant iced tea. “Draft” should imply that it’s filtered instead of pasteurized, but I get none of that here. Just barley water.

65cl can. Clear deep golden pour with huge white frothy head. Aroma: sweet corny malts, a hint of hops. Liggt to medium body. Lively carbonation. Sweetish malty taste. Light spicy bitterness on ending. That’s it.

PilsnerDoctor32 (263) - madrid, SPAIN - JUL 7, 2017
Botella 0,33L 4,7%,hecha bajo licencia en UE . Color dorada, espuma blanca no alta, burbujas de tamaños diferentes, media resistente. Aroma- malta. Sabor- malta, un dulzor sin rastro de amargor, muy suave. Nada especial.

Nevalainen (772) - FINLAND - JUL 3, 2017
Clear pale color with white head. Aroma of malt, grass. Taste is light bitter and papery. Nice smooth finish. Good.

DavidWoodruff (621) - Windsor, California, USA - JUN 21, 2017
Yellow-gold with a dense white head. Yeasty aroma with some noble hop contribution. Dry, mildly bitter. Light body but not watery. Clean finish with just a bit of bitterness. Beats most of the American mass produced pale lagers.

bunget (986) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 19, 2017
Can. Clear yellow body, small white head with average retention and little lacing. Aroma of soap, wet cardboard, grains, corn and hints of herbs. Taste of grains, good amount of bread, herbs and some metallic notes. Decent.

Acaro (235) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUN 19, 2017
Aroma: Cereal. Appearance: Gold/ambar color with clear liquid and white frothy head. Taste: Medium bitterness. Palate: Medium body with thin texture and average carbonation. Short bitter finish. Overall: Nothing special. Average beer, better served cold.

DOC: 3/16/2017

2015 BJCP Category: 2A International Pale Lager

AROMA: Medium-low clean sweet malty presence with a corn or cereal-like character. No discernible hop character. Clean fermentation profile. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Yellow golden hue; brilliant clarity. Large bright white froth retains and laces well. 3/3

FLAVOR: Medium-low pale malt flavor throughout. Some sweetness initially with a touch of caramel. Second half becomes a bit drier and rustic with a cracker-like flavor of starch. Finishes with a brief corn or rice cereal sweetness before fading away cleanly. Hops are subtle, but may account for a mild spicy sensation towards the end. Clean fermentation profile overall. 16/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium-high CO2. Smooth texture with a clean, crisp finish. Somewhat refreshing. Quite efficient and sessionable for 4.9% ABV. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: For a macro lager, this is actually quite good and easily drinkable. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find fresh so it’s usually oxidated. 8/10

It’s a fizzy lager. The use of rice is really clear. By no means bad, but not something I’d usually go for. Not memorable.
