A very mild attempt at an amber beer, but for all that’s it can be rather easier to drink than some of the more expensive/distinctive brands.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2014 roasty, cooked vegetables, amber, clear, frothy, light sweetness, light body, thin feel, abrupt. Very good looking for a happoshu. Dark amber, frothy white head. Smells a bit off, but tastes just fine, if the experience is fleeting. Mildly sweet, wonderful mouthfeel. In-and-out on the tongue, but in this category I’m not looking for something that lingers. Honestly this is one the best (possibly *the* best) happshu’s I’ve ever had.

Mild malty red fruit aroma. Sweet malt flavor, berries, some hops, bitter/sour finish. Not mindblowing, but at least this happoshu series is quite tasty and hoppy for a change.

Can from Yamaya. Light sweetish malt, roasted grain, dark fruit, and a soucon of piss. Brownish-amber, thin head, and big carb bubbling up. Roast malt candyish flavor and a off flavor sort of bitterness (not like hops). Not really terrible. Somehow the roastiness covers the normal roughness and crude character of that most happoshu has.

Can. Aromas of toffee apple, spice, malt in there too. Crisp enough, with decent bitterness, but still too sweet as well. Good body for its class of faux-beer, but underwhelming nonetheless.

Lata. Nice deep golden colour, amber actually, clear. Malty aroma, caramel, bit fruit. Good mouthfeel. Pleasant malt caramel flavour with bit fruit, pleasant medium hoppiness.

Can. Amber orange, high, very fine head, clear. Caramel malt nose, lightly fruity, with cherry and apple, sugary element. Not a real Vienna nose. Sweet and sugary flavor, no real caramel, but brown sugar, a bit of burnt grain, candied fruit. Not so good. Nicely bitter finish, though. Not very good.

Can at Kimi Ryokan, Ikebukuro. Clear golden/amber - white head. Ok malty, fruity hoppy notes, bread, caramel notes, ok pleasant even "warm"........
