3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Unfortunately from can. Rich aroma of chocolate, coffee, little smoked. Minimal beige head, Dark black with ruby hindsight. Metal in taste with dark malt flavours. Bitter very light. Medium Carbonation and body.
This is not a stout or porter but a beer in the German Schwarzbier tradition, and as such it’s a pretty good job, certainly no worse than most German brews. The label shows Yebisu, the portly god of fishermen and good luck, presumably a happy drinker. HKdIPA (848) - HONG KONG - JUL 11, 2014
Tap at Narita. Half and half with regular yebisu. Full flavored but light. More interesting than expected and some good bitterness. Tonkun (1306) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 5, 2013

Pours a black colour with a small head. Aroma of grains, roasted malts and some grass. Flavour of roasted malts, grains, grass and some sweetness. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and grass. Rich, roasty and grassy finish. Good.
Draught at Lion. Silky jet black with short-lived, fine tan head. Roasted malts, good bit of soy sauce, touch of dark chocolate. Smooth as all get out, but served a bit too cold. Not especially complex, but a solid beer. AndySnow (8085) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - MAR 24, 2013

Black currant, roasted, light malt sweet with a hint of sourness. Silky, clean, balanced and easy.
Looks very sharp, elegant dark brown witha a cream-coloured head, that does not last much. Aromas of roasts, coffee, a bit leathery to start with. But in a minute the aroma turns into just an ordinary whiff of a pale lager. Strong flavour of chars, coffee, no fruits on the horizon. Rather bitter, quite a professional balance there, with a touch of bitterness from chars, the hoppy bitterness and the sweet malts. Rather thion bodied, not much of a finish to be memorable. Not a bad Schwarzbier, but the style does not excite me that much. Finally, this is much better than the pale lager Yebisu.
