A lot better than the lager of theirs. but nothin too splecail still. Frank (4195) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 7, 2002
I was pleasantly surprised this wasn’t a Killian’s Red clone. Sweet carmel malt nose. Brown-amber color. Tiny spots of lace. Not quite enough hops to balance the malt especially as it warms. Slightly fruity but there’s nothing to make this brew stand out in crowd. Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - NOV 26, 2002
Toasty marshmallow nose, rounded mouthfeel. Malty in the middle and towards the finish. DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 21, 2002
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2003 Had this while golfing..Didn't really like it too much actually..a bit of carmel, some hop presence, but nothing going on as far as anything else goes jpknight22 (171) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 12, 2002
The most pleasant surprise of the trail mix sampler pack. I think I would consider buying a six of this stuff at some point to break the monotony. Definite sweet, malty, hoppy flavor - traces of sweetness emerge a little more as the beer goes on. Decent, thick foamy head throughout the entire brew. Good beer.

Slightly hoppy, slightly spicy, slightly malty. Unfortunately, it’s just slightly everything. The only intense flavor is the blandness. Nothing special whatsoever. HighGravity (926) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 4, 2002
Spicy front of the palate. Quick sweet finish. Lots of oxidized/pasteurized flavors. bigbrew99 (14) - USA - NOV 3, 2002
Mostly hops here, nice brew, very drinkable Wiseblood (700) - Clarksville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 5, 2002
Warm golden color with a decent thin head that stays around. Starts off smooth, but finishes with lots of hop flavor. Somewhat bitter aftertaste diminishes overall taste. Hopistotle420 (1178) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 25, 2002
Light golden amber. White head is mostly diminishing, a lil lace. Sweet caramel, light floral/fruity nose. Caramel sweetness first, medium to light bodied, clean slightly bitter finish. A decent amber, one of Saranac’s better known, better brews. Mediocre, decent, not bad.
